Well hell is a different dimension entirely so it obey’s different rules, out of lore reason; the animators had different people working on the same film, problem is there was no communication between the different studios making the film

Fun Fact:The real Dante Alighieri was a veteran of the Trajan Wars,not the Crusades,which is why "The Divine Comedy" portrays Greeks in a far less flattering light than their Roman counterparts(That and Dante as a Florentine Catholic naturally felt far more kinship with The Romans).

@@Saiyangoddess72 I read all of the Divine Comedy two times in his original language and I have studied it for about 6 years in school, so I know what I'm talking about. In the poem, Dante puts some men of the church (and even a Pope, Bonifacio VIII) in Hell, but basically it was a political choice, not a religious one. Dante was very catholic (he fought in the battle of Campaldino with the Tuscan allies of the Pope) and he was a man of his time: for him, it was normal to believe blindly in the Catholic religion and to sustain the cause of crusaders, because at that time the society was quite entirely based on religion. If the Divine Comedy really was an anti-catholic poem, it wouldn't have been published at all (or at least not during the XIII and XIV century).

The film`s final scene in case anyone was confused what the filmmakers wanted us as the viewers to take us away as to the legitimacy of Roman Catholicism and the concept of "holy war": Dante rips his blood cross off of his armor and throws it into a garbage heap(Hell is based on Sheol,literally a garbage heap in Israel!),it then turns into a familiar-looking snake and slithers back to Hell.

That`s kinda the point of the whole thing. That Templars like Dante were unwittingly committing the same sin as Lucifer:Killing other men,women and children in God`s name, Lucifer even points this out when he`s tempting Beatrice to turn against Dante early in The Game and Film.
