Carpenter Ants are one of the most misunderstood insects! They actually hardly ever do damage to peoples homes. Instead, Carpenter Ants only nest in wood that is already started to decay or have moisture inside. These Ants are very important members of the ecosystem, helping breakdown old decaying wood and other debris. They don't eat the wood either. If you have a carpenter ant infection and don't see any sawdust, that means that they are not nesting in that wood. When they nest inside wood, they will leaves sawdust behind because they expel the wood shaving to make room for their nest. Thank you for watching @DanTheBugMan . I had a carpenter ant invasion a couple years ago. I caught the scout scouting out my kitchen, but it marked its path before I killed it & more soon followed. They were coming in from the side door which is in the kitchen & all used the path the scout made. It was easy to kill them on the path in the kitchen & I used granules around the perimeter of the house. No more carpenter ants in my house, but I need to treat the perimeter at least once before fall.

I have been watching a lot of your vids - not the shorts, so much - love them ! I know you are using the chemicals safely; but WEAR a wide brimmed hat if you are working outdoors - the sun will age you, and you will prevent skin cancer, and premature aging - sun screen would be good too. I would do both. I was a 'sun baby', at near 60, I have to see my dermatologist once a year, sometimes twice. I go in the 'winter time' when the 'tan' has faded (and literately has gone down the drain, washed off) - when the sun I do get 'just driving around' has greatly diminished. The back hat thing looks cool, but a baseball cap - where good, facing forward - can't beat a wide brimmed hat (and sunscreen on your arms, etc) can't be beat.

I had a carpenter ant problem and I purchased some granular bait but I hate that I forget the brand. Not only did I do the perimeter but also went to the neighbors 😂. It worked pretty well. This year I seen a couple so now I have to buy another bag either but like I said I forget the brand. I believe it was yellow pellets.

I had always heard that ants of any kind will come to take the body of a dead ant if they can smell the scent of a dead ant. I killed a carpenter ant in my bedroom years ago, went to the bathroom for a few minutes, and returned to see another ant dragging the dead body away. I find your channel extremely fascinating.

Wouldnt spraying over the granular bifin not make it as strong? I was taught to spread the granulars a little bit away from the house then spray the foundation.

Nice video. I fought with carpenter ants for over a month. Gave up and called a pro who did everything that you did. A few died inside, but their army laughed and continued their occupation. I applied delta dust at all plumbing locations & baseboards. Finally made wet sugar & borax 50/50 baits. Three weeks later, I now see an occasional lethargic ant. I believe that I am now winning the war.

I had carpenter ants come into the house and were living in a door. That door was out so fast lol. I have had every type of ants in my life... even those little pharaoh(?) ants. So small you can hardly see them and I needed special treatment for them ..regular ant traps they do go in. Expensive, but finally work.

@Dan The Bug Man, it appears the homeowners have one or more dogs. I wondered how safe those chemicals are with pets and if say they had small children who crawl around the house sometimes into corners, doorways etc where you've been spraying. Those yellow jackets are no joke, Idk what happened but I was stung by one mowing the lawn. I thought there might be a nest but I came back to the area after mowing the rest of the yard and there was none there, no obvious hole in the ground or anything.

ok what about an infestation, they came under a door and then went into the wall and then to a dropped ceiling area with fiberglass insulation, I don't see any trace in attic but put borax and sugar out, but they find their way into my living room ceiling light globe so I am assuming they are nesting in the insulation but what about food I dont give them nothing so how do they keep coming

Is it bad to spray the granules with the Taurus SC? Just curious if there is a special order to spray first or spray second.

Yes, don’t do this. The Taurus sc is a non detectable (the bugs don’t know the barrier is there). The goal is to get the product and the residual on the target pest so they bring back to the colony. The bifen granules are a repellent. So he is making the products counter act each other. And he’s using way to much granules in one area. Honestly surprised to see him do this. I wonder if he used alpine WSG for the inside treatment?

I wouldn't say "there should be none inside" for a home surrounded by trees. I would say: "We can anticipate some scouts, but if there is no food source for them, they should not be a noticeable problem." This is a noticeable problem.
