Another great fix Rich, well done! I like it when the manufacturers think about sensible gearing! The class 20 I've just got leaps off the line like Eusain Bolt and flies around my test track on quarter throttle! Hopefully I'll be able to reign it in with some CV value adjustments! The 142 looks like a lovely little model! I've been impressed with Dapol's 122 detail recently, although that is another one that needs slowing down considerably! Keep up the good work! All the best, Ian.

I hope you can tame the beast with the CV's 👍, the zimo chips are lovely for throttle control so you'll be running great after a little tune im sure. Yeah i have fallen for yet another loco with this Pacer.. they really do run well! Take care mate, im sure there will be another fix soon enough here 😁

I've only been into this for a few months. A dapol 73 lights blew on me. The replacement the same. They had no more but after watching your videos on blown diodes I thought - actually I'm keeping this as my first fix up since I really liked the model. I've had it apart and stripped down and back and got the confidence from watching these - so thanks. Dapol though - sort out your lights being so sensitive to shorts! Cheers !

Im glad to hear the videos have been helping 👍, i suspect the diode chips are rite on the limit of there rating so hence why some blow quicker than others.. it could also be that whoever soldered them on put too much heat inti some of them which also shortens the life of them 🤷, Thanks, take care Rich 👍

Awesome - exactly what mine suffer from but now solved. However, mine have lighting issues, well, one has!! Will look into it at a later date!

Dapol light issues! Nooo.. might just be the bat54c chip on the PCB.. same as my HST light fix if you have a look at some of the older videos ive done in the past they may be helpful 👍

@@ThisWayWorksTWW Cheers .. I have the same on a Dapol 33 :)

@@Hal-Zuzzu_Model_Railway if its generally Dapol and its light related i just change the chip and thats normally fixed them, mind you the wires can come loose under those light pcbs too.. 👍

I saw another channel that suggested that Peco Power lube conducts electricity so it might be useful instead of your graphite suggestion but I don't claim to be certain. It suggests that most oils are not conductive so would not be useful.

It may be worth a try though 👍, thanks for letting me know as i had bever heard of it before 👍

Thanks Chris, Yes i surpose it is a bit of an archive now of fixes 😁, theres still plenty more to fix, i cant see the end in sight 😂, thank you 👍
@timstrainvideos142 Жыл бұрын
well done, but that one was far too easy and quick for you to fix!! what do you put on your model train gears?
@ThisWayWorksTWW Жыл бұрын
Agh i just made it look easy 😂, TBH some go this way and they just need a clean👍. I tend to use wheel bearing grease or oil from my oil dropper on the gears. In this case i just let the existing grease work its way back around the gears on the axles.. for the pickups i use graphite. So pencil lead or you can scrap a graphite block for the powder and put that on the pickups 👍

I’ve got the same train but in DCC. It has an issue with one of the drive gears which appears to have stripped itself. Are they easy to change?
@EM-yk1dw6 ай бұрын
My 142 runs but not very smooth, dirty contacts? I use DCC though
@ThisWayWorksTWW6 ай бұрын
@@EM-yk1dw it could be dirty contacts or rims. I would also check where the pickups go inside the loco to make sure a good contact is made there. Sometimes the pickups come detached within the loco 👍 i would probably start by putting in the blanking chip to run it on DC and then clean the parts, sometimes DCC can make troubleshooting harder as it can mask issues
