I did hear some years ago that the last Class 29 was earmarked for preservation at the last minute, but was scrapped due to a misunderstanding.

Hi Ian, one or two of the lost diesel classes nearly made it, with one of the most famous being Class 22 D6319 which was almost preserved but lost at the last minute. Its a sad story, but makes the models all that more appealing.

@@HattonsModelRailways Actually, I may be thinking of that one.

No it wasn't a 29. It was a 22. D6319. Cut up in error. The prospective purchaser was given D821 'Greyhound' by way of compensation

Thanks much for reviewing these! I have a Playcraft model (my dad's), and a Hornsby model. I think I really need one of these Dapol model 21's they look super cool!

I hope Dapol will produce a Class 22 again for LSWR area modellers. Very similar in appearance.

Keep an eye on our pre-owned section, John, as the excellent Class 22 models come up occasionally, but they don't hang around too long. Hopefully we'll see a new set of releases from Dapol in the future too.

They're a little known loco, but really worth learning more about especially with the livery and model variations. Thanks for watching.
