it's a west coast thing. it comes broadly from silicon valley and from seattle. it's hard to explain but it's essentially the idea that you are a new man of sorts and you don't need to dress up like the suits who stick to their old ways etc etc. this is slightly hyperbolic but i'm trying to describe the essence of a thing which is hard without making generalizations. this is an extreme and specific manifestation of the casual west coast aesthetic in the same way that the tech guy with jean/sweatpants and hoodie is. it's a very specific look that attempts to look like it's not attempting, but it's rooted in the same overall category. you can see this similar thing crop up in the bohemian look of the 60s and how that eventually became a trendy way of dressing as opposed to an actual grassroots thing. this is really just another cycle of modern trend-capitalism, but in this specific cultural sphere. idea within a small group -> becomes more broadly adopted -> mainstream industry notices and commodifies it -> thing loses initial meaning and slowly dies -> years later that thing is revived in zombie form targeting people who have a vague idea of the thing and it's meaning but never experienced it's original 'arc' or only the very tail end of it. in this case industry is social media in addition to the older clothing manufacturing industries and traditional methods of advertising.

he was ok. his entire career he was kind of cosplaying as his uncle who was an entirely different kind of leader than he was and he only really hit his stride when he switched to manipulating popular politics to formally become instated as Napoleon III. it's not an entirely unfair comparison because he was never very good at military matters but he had to adopt that part of his uncle's legacy as part of his public persona. he did fight the crimeans and the austrians but in those wars the french had constant problems(including the fact that he didn't provision the army with enough artillery which meant they had to take them off of the ships to use in ground battles at various points). he made a number of mistakes in the war with prussia but prussia also had overwhelmingly better artillery technology so i'm not sure he could have done anything but lose better in that situation.

They're terrified that they'd fail in their attempt at styling, clothing, aesthetics etc and someone would point that out to hurt them. So in some weird self-destructive pre-emptive maneuver they choose this aesthetic of being repulsive and ugly on purpose, as to disarm any potential criticism that someone could send their way, with "haha nooo bro you don't understand, it's on purpose, I'm looking like a hobo IRONICALLY". But thing is, it's still ugly. It doesn't matter if it's on purpose or not. If a guy smeared shit on himself "ironically" and with full self-awareness, he would still smell like shit to others. Doesn't matter what kind of multi-layer post-ironic ideology he tries to hide under, what everyone around receive is still the same old smell of shit. Same applies to looking like a disgusting hobo, the repulse people feel remains unchanged, it's automatic, visceral response.

@@ruriwijaya595 And by the way, you know, I somewhat feel for these people because indeed our society today goes through this weird phase of shaming people for caring about their self-image ("don't give in to oppressive beauty standards!!!" while someone just dresses preppy or invests in their looks), while simultaneously being horrible to anyone who doesn't meet looks standards, like they demand you to look good, but also to look good naturally and effortlessly, never by your own work and dedication, and you're supposed to "not care" to be cool. This goes for clothing, makeup/cosmetic care, gym etc any kind of more than minimal effort is "uncool". So these people think that if they overdo it radically in other side, they will be uber-cool, right...? But also at the same time I feel a mature person should notice the absurd and nonsense of this, and grow out of it by the time they're out of high school, start to be genuine to themselves and pursue self-improvement on their own, instead of hiding in another layer of post-irony in an attempt to remain "hip", while the truth is they're the most lame mfs on the planet.

The weed that people talk about not being addictive is the weed smoked in the 70’s that is about half as potent as some of the lowest thc content za in today’s market.
