This video was shot on Sony A7iii with a small Rhode microphone (windscreen on) and the entire rig was mounted on a DJI gimbal for stability.

How dangerous would you say this area is generally speaking? Im thinking of making the move but the increase in car jacking among other things is in the downtown area is putting me off

So safety IS a concern in Chicago, I will not lie. Generally speaking the Chicago River Walk, Millennium park Park and Michigan Ave have plenty or Police presence and are generally ok. However, I've seen on the news that a car got highjacked in front of Willis (Sear's) Tower.. that's not far from the areas I mentioned. I would not feel comfortable recording these later into the night.

99.9 percent of us don't get shot, killed or carjacked. 8 out of 10 times the violence happens in 8 or 9 neighborhoods in the south and west side. The city is huge and has hundreds of neighborhoods. People from all around the world live here

I've lived here for 30 years and never been a victim of crime. I love my city! Born and raised here

There are parts of the city which are very tough indeed and unfortunately there is a lot of violence in Chicago, that fact cannot be disputed. Sometimes this actually keeps me away from photographing and filming this amazing architecture Chicago puts on display and while I hope things will improve I am not naive to think it will be a safe city anytime soon.

The city is huge. Most of city's violence is concentrated in only 8 or 9 neighborhoods in the south and west side. We have hundreds of nieghborhoods. Think of the city as 1000 different small towns instead of one big. I live here for 30 years and never been a victim of crime. FYI Chicago doesn't even rank in the top 50 US cities with the highest violent crime rate. I have to constantly defend my city. But I will do it over and over because I love it so much!
