As my last Daring vid was from the days of the WiP ship, I figured it was time to update this one. The ship is especially good in the current meta with rocket planes buzzing about all the time, as fast acting smokes gives you a convenient shelter.

Calm waters = less stress on the encoder = better quality. The WoWs usual water KILLS video quality a bit like something like snow falling would.

@@Shadow.24772 yes, but it's very low tier and the enemies are extremely slow, couple that with a lot of islands in these low tier maps, and a good player can work around the lack or torpedo range

@Flamu The tactic you use with HMS Daring here is the exact same one I use in my HMS Icarus and HMS Lightning. Slow down, smoke, blast, run.......rinse and repeat. Loose off some torps as ye go etc.

Ah yes, I too use the Calm Waves mod found on Aslain's modpack. Its easier on the eyes imo and in some cases, it makes it easier to line up a perfect broadside salvo into a ship's broadside! -But then your shells will miss anyway.- Also: *"Who dares wins."* -British SAS

Love the daring, not only does everyone underestimate you but I love how it plays. Best moments are leap-frogging (which is what I've been calling it personally as well!) just outside the radar ranges of those thirsty cruisers. Only downside is the heal being a bit underwhelming but if you play your cards right, it's not a big problem - at least you have a heal or two.

My RN DD style is running and gunning and smoking up is to ninja disappear if I get in a nasty situation. Yes, she is slow, but you are super agile and very small. Plus with this rate of fire, you don't have to worry about missing shots at max range. In my experience enemies tend to get bored of missing you and target bigger friendlies. Ah, important part of this is that there are other things to shoot at for the enemy. Also 1 of the best thing is the 360 degrees rear turret which can make you agressive most of the time able to use full attack potential while dodging incoming fire.

You either have suicidal DDs that "Try" to take the cap but they get assraped by CVs, Radars and godtier shelling or you get the superbly passive DDs that avoid the cap like the black plague. Then there's me being an idiot open gunboating in a Harugumo lmao.

I think you forgot to mention one very important thing about Daring. It has the great british acceleration with the same sluggish way to come to a full stop. The calm sea mod is amazing. I use it for a while now and will stick to it. It also does wonders to the FPS on old computers. The only downside is the shade or reflection it creates when zooming in on an enemy ship. But it goes away by lowering or disabling the additional reflections in the GFX settings of WoWs.

The only DDs that can beat Daring in a close range duel are Kleber with reload boost active and Harugumo if his guns are already pointed the right way. The rest get shredded no matter what captain build they're running.

I never made any efforts to grind the IJN DD line, but I can't avoid feeling really bad for the Shimakaze in the current meta. Like, I probably shouldn't but I just felt so bad seeing it be completly wrecked by the Daring.

Daring is a villain to every other t10 DD, not just shima. What they're really worried about is CVs

The thing is most shimas don't run SE which is a huge mistake. The Shima still has her place though as the biggest torp monster in the game. If you manage to be in the right place when the enemy pushes you can break 100k at the 3 minute mark quite well. Plus she is fast enough to get where she needs to go.

The graphics on the water is beautiful!!! You provided valuable information on the Daring and your insights are strong, as usual. :) However on the subscription front, I cannot subscribe to a WoWs CC, who is unable to differentiate between a captain and a commander. You're being too literal. He's referring to the commander of the ship (i.e. Captain), not the rank of Commander.

@@EvoraGT430 There is a clear difference between Captain and Commander in WoWs. It's not an opinion or preference, it's factual with regard to Warships. Each account has many commanders but only one Captain. The Captain is the player or owner of the account. Captain skills are human skills, but Commander skills are skills you choose via the Commander skill page. Commander examples are below: 1] When you click an avatar of a Commander, you see COMMANDER skills in the upper left and Elite COMMANDER XP in the lower left. 2] In the Armory, you have a section called COMMANDERS, not Captains. 3] In your signals section, Zulu Hotel, Red Dragon, Scylla, Hydra, and Laviathan, all buff COMMANDER XP. There is no mention in any of those sections of the word, Captain. The only time Captain is mentioned in the game, is when they're addressing us, the community. Conflating the two terms is akin to calling a Shimakaze, a battleship, or calling a Yamato, a destroyer. It's wrong and it should be corrected, just as if I called a Montana a carrier. A CC not knowing the difference between a Captain and a Commander in WoWs is either ignorance or simple laziness on his part. I want to be very clear, WoWs is NOT a simulation, it is a video game, as Wargaming has publicly stated. So, save yourself the argument of defense of Flamu by saying that his words may be more accurate to reality, because that's irrelevant in this discussion.

I partially agree and partially disagree on the smokes against planes. On one hand you're right with the smokes reloading so quickly and having so many that you aren't wasting them when you use them defensively On the other, and this is definitely a niche, the total duration of the smoke from emission to dispersion is 50s: shorter than the fighter consumable. In a situation where there's no-one spotting the fighters, the CV will always have that 10s spotting when you leave the smoke (plus the shorter duration might encourage them to stick around). Aside from that, great commentary as usual, though I would think the flak upgrade would be interchangeable with aiming systems, seeing as you spend a lot of time with your AA disabled anyway Edit: Mixed feelings on the modded water, I mean it's pretty but doesn't look right (for the scale of the game) imo

I'm not sure, however I think it's mostly a combination of the current meta and player skill. I think player skill has been worsened by new spamming ships like smolensk which encourage passive play, after all you can't expect a bb to push with a cruiser camping behind - it results in too much concentration of fire on one player. With that said, controlling flanks is crucial in this game. I've noticed that in most of these steam roll games if not all, one flank falls (mostly being A I have no idea why. I think it tends to be a more open aggressive flank due to similar map designs) and then the people at C tend to camp around island cover and result in more passive playstyle. Then they are fighting on two fronts with broadside exposed from the fallen flank and it just becomes impossible for any kind of carry to occur.

IFHE is mandatory if you want to be optimal. You can't Pen DDs and BB's superstructure otherwise. DDs just have to angle and then you're fucked.

Great video (watching it for the third time I think) but it brings to mind the effect of TIME on these tutorials. In this case the IFHE rework has effectively flipped the situation where the Daring is concerned - you CAN now pen 19 mm without IFHE while adding IFHE has a greatly increased penalty where fire-starting is concerned and brings no benefit at all. Almost makes me wish you would pin a comment at the top of your older vids warning people not to follow equipment/skill recommendations which have been overtaken by time ...

I feel like Daring is kinda similar to Grozovoi in a playstyle... Useful torps and very strong guns, useful consumables. I play both in a similar way. But half times you smoke up in Daring, you just kite with Groz... Two very fun ships.
