Sir I have a doubt Despite India and other eastern countries were known at that time due to Alexander , then also the map tended to be east dominated instead of the west which was considered to be Europe at that time. This somewhat contradicts the church supremacy which was still not allowed at that time.isnt it??

Good thought and question 👌❤️ The idea of Levanter and beyond as place of Heavens, prevailed since beginning of Greek scholarship...but during Christian Europe the Far East which was out of bounds remained as the concept of Paradise as it was beyond reach and Rising Sun was considered the place of Paradise...world was depicted accordingly. So the concept was not power centric , rather more of faith based and fancy based. Hence , it continued to remain east oriented untill almost 14 th century.
