This is one of my favorite iommi solos . He just works he’s way up the minor blues scale . Then goes to town in the 15-17 frets . He’s probably my favorite metal guitarist he’s very bluesy Thank you for old school Sabbath!

Iommi is hands down my favorite guitarist. I had the chance to see him live 5 times and he never disappointed.

Looking at it laid out, I wonder if Iommi came up for the Riff for Jethro Tull's 'My God' or Ian Anderson had shown the riff to him prior to Black Sabbath. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIfXqHScg8qFjcU

I think it's just all that sinister sounding blues scale riffage that was happening then. What about the line cliche part? Could be 25 or 6 to 4, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Babe I'm gonna leave you etc...

@@Alpha_Jams if you click the link to the Live Performance by Iommi in 1970, he's playing a very similar classical intro. When people say that the first three Albums of Metallica are Dave Mustane's solos and Riffs, it's not because it's common metal progression, it's because Mustane wrote those solos and riffs. I think Iommi was deeply influenced by his short time working with Jethro Tull, which lead to Black Sabbath. But you'd have to ask Iommi himself to really know.
