Ren posted this on his community page about the song: "I wrote the song on a day in 2021 I felt particularly bitter about living in a sick body for most my life, about anger at the greed in the music industry. Killing everything you know, even your support systems is also about rebirth, some people will have caught the Samsara line and see a man cursing the gods for the hands hes been dealt, others will see it as a track thats just being vulgar and dark for the sake of it. It's all of those things."

What I respect most about Ren is he makes & puts out music for himself. He isn't really trying to make everyone like him. If its for you, cool, if not, no big deal, don't listen.

It actually didn't divide the fans that much tbh. They know him too well to take it the wrong way. There were a few who did and a few more for whom it wasn't their 'cup of tea' musically speaking but overall the reception from the fans was pretty positive. Beyond that it's harder to tell, as KZbin has clearly restricted access to the track. Tbh, I think Ren wanted it to be MORE divisive, lol! Bloody masochist that he is! :)

There was a time back in the day when, as a single mom (2 kids, no child support) and working like an insane fool to support us, the IRS decided to audit me. Because I hadn't kept my bank deposit receipts -- not my bank statements, I had those -- they decided I was hiding money and hit me with a big fine. This was before the Taxpayers Bill of Rights, back when you had to prove they were wrong, they didn't have to prove they were right. Just put it on a credit card? I completely agree with you about this one. A lot of people reacted badly to it because they have come to expect Ren to bring light and hope, but he said himself in Hi Ren that life is a pendulum and the brighter it shines the darker the shadows it casts. I'm really glad that he feels able to be candid about the pain, too. Even here though, dark as it is, he speaks of reincarnation and burning it all down to rebuild anew. It's absolute Ren energy: surprise everyone by being blisteringly honest while looking for a way to use the pain to create something better. The thing I love most about this is that he put it out knowing people might not like it. The pressure not to do that after finally reaching a place where his music generates enough income to fund his own medical bills must have been conflicting, but he has always made the music that he wants to make and it is fantastic that he has the resilience to still choose to do what feels right for himself even when it isn't easy. Nonody would blame him for coasting a bit, but he's not built that way.

Great take on this Ben, you definitely took this the same way I did. We're all multifaceted, swinging from light to dark and have our own breaking point. After years of illness, loneliness and confusion, it's no wonder he hit rock bottom. I completely understand as I too have been battling illness for the majority of my life, so it's good to point out that it's ok to feel this way sometimes, it's natural. It's not to be taken literally, it's a scream out to the universe for the wrongs that you feel. A lot of people missed the Samsara line and "Reincarnate, reach Nirvana", which to me sums up Ren, embrace all sides, learn, grow and transcend into dualistic thinking. Sorry I've gone on a bit, this song just resonates so deeply...can you tell 😂. ✌❤

In his 1 million-subscriber thank you speech, (I may be paraphrasing lightly) Ren advised those “feeling hate against your fellow man”, to feel that hate/pain, express it, the let it go and find new peace. Seems like he is taking his own advice in this song. He wrote it during his darkest times so then he took that pain, disillusion and frustration and expressed it and created art. I’m in awe.

As a young adult, when I would get angry, I would take long drives with very loud music to decompress. I would have loved this and found it cathartic. There are times in life when you just need to let it all out. Singing about it seems like a relatively safe way to do so. I'm 52 now, so when I first heard this song, I had more philosophical reaction. Here is the way it hit me: Humans have two desires that are always in conflict; the desire for attachments/security and for peace/equality. The problem is that as soon as you begin to make attachments, you are essentially choosing sides and creating divides. The more attachments, the more you put yourself in conflict with people who have chosen to go in a different direction. It comes down to which is more important to the individual; because to get to a point where there was peace world-wide, it would essentially take having people voluntarily severing their attachments. Ren always seems to have several layers in his music. One thing I like about reactions is getting the opportunity to compare how people react and look at the music through the POV of others. Well said, man! Most of us can't even begin to fathom what Ren's been through (and continues to endure). Anger is normal and it's healthy to let it out and then let go. Emotions surge but eventually that wave comes down. I'm sure Ren wrote this before the wave had subsided. This song gives people who hold in anger the permission to feel it and not bottle it up. Some people expect the very deep, Ren. What they need to understand that people who live with the expectation of death are not always going to be happy with their lot. I’m not sure why this is divided. He says it’s a metaphor for severing all of the attachments he has to this life, so it’s basically saying he loves all of these things and he’s angry he has to kill them because of his illness.
