Ren actually said in his community post he wrote this song back in 2021 on a day when he was feeling especially bad from his sickness and this was an outlet for all that anger. And yes he say kill all the metaphors, so he's not meaning it literally. Loved your reaction and your interpretation of this song.

Yes, there is lowkey a Buddhist interpretation of this track with the above quote and the mention of Samsara and Nirvana, as well. Brilliant track lyrically, but easy to misinterpret on a casual listen. An artistic risk that seems worth taking, and I'm glad he did

I was turned off originally to this song's literal lyrics ... it made me still in contemplation ... But, I too realized It's all about metaphor and taking the red or blue pill ... do you accept all or know truth ? ... kill your attachments / question everything ? or live a lie ... Lyrics point to a ' rabbit hole of ' ( many ) references ... I've gained insight watching many reactors ; Most have something extra to add in what they see in the lyrics ... You guys caught a lot !

Ren said it pretty clear, at least in my understanding, when using the word "kill" you could replace it with "sever". Sever all atatchments that weigh you down to reach a higher state of being, as Ren said "Reincarnate, reach Nirvana.".

Me too. I'm 55 and realize he has reached out to so many things to get help for his illness and got nothing but more pain. He is allowed to vent like anyone else, he is a sinner like all of us. Many curse God when a loved one dies because it is a knee jerk reaction and no one else can understand unless you are in those shoes. The Lord forgives and Ren says that in a few songs. Yes some lines make me uncomfortable but also the real truth about this world makes people uncomfortable. To bad, grow a skin and toughen up.
