if you do the same thing on the bomb in Gaffer's buggy (Right above the ice attachment) You'll get a better broken dagger that has things like big bucks, quench, heal, and abs up instead of poor, poison, etc.

@@godonlyknows13 aah, it's been so long since I lost my copy of Dark Cloud and it's been a while since I've played it, so unfortunately I can't give any pointers other than sometimes it just doesn't want to work, try restarting your PS2 or leave the area and come back. I'd have to find my copy to remember what exactly to do lol

@@godonlyknows13 if you bring the bomb down to the bottom right slot (of the shop side) and then make space on the item side (like above video) you can do what they said with the bomb and it does work. Sometimes you have to back out because it will get glitched very easily. Just keep trying, it will work eventually.

@@godonlyknows13 also, if you sell a weapon with the broken dagger from this video, you get just over 4,000 for it, but if you sell it with the one from the bomb, you get just over 16,000

New development! Be careful while doing this, because you can accidentally create and invisible item. Which cannot be deleted. So it takes up space in your inventory. From screwing around I had filled like 10 spaces in my inventory. Edit the glitched invisible item happens when you don’t back out between trying the broken dagger glitch. To be safe, when successful, back out of the store, save and then try again if you require another one. Edit 2: though can get rid of the item RIGHT when it happens by throwing it in the trash. But after it is in your inventory you cannot

REALLY glad I looked this up before doing it. I remembered how to do it but forgot it maxed out stats. That would've ruined my let's play for sure. Assuming anyone were to get into it anyway XD. Dark Cloud is such an underrated series in my opinion.

Worth noting: between the glitches, you do NOT have to go to the dagger screen and reequip the dagger. You can just press triangle to open the menu and immediately close and talk to gaffer again. I'm playing on original PS2.

I remember having a save that I dedicated ONLY for a broken dagger run. Every weapon had multiple daggers injected into them. It got to the point my game literally couldn’t handle my glitched weapons pumped with so many daggers that by the time I reached the Moon Sea, the game was so slow and crashed every time I entered a dungeon. It was a fun experiment but yeah.. go easy on them xD

Fun fact you can also do this with holy powder incase you just got the odd gaffer and he dosent have attachments yet. First, scroll to bottom of items. Then with shop put holy powder at the bottom and then perform the glitch. It is a bit harder to do but is worth it for if you wanna be op in the start of the game.

This can actually be done at any shop, (so far) and it seems the perks or whatever, differ depending on the shop, I did it at the owl shop by overing over the bait.

I know this quite old, but you may (if you care) to add a note for people to use triangle to up their inventory and then exit it. To get it to work perfectly.

every one saying they can't get it to work because of completion order, I got it to work fine with no specific order. completed machos house first, then the fat kid, then gaffer. just press triangle then back out and go to gaffers store. go to attachments then scroll to row 7, after that hover over the gold bars and press X+R (dpad) it's simple.

If you are on the PAL aka European version of the game this will likely produce a bit broken dagger for you that decreases and glitches out the stats. Instead what you should do is scroll your inventory, not attachments page all the way to the bottom Then scroll the store inventory all the way down and grab the empty spot right below the gold bar performing the glitch. The rest is the same. This should give you a dagger that maxes all stats without glitching them

I was able to get the dagger from the Ice attachment, The gold bars, and the two empty slots directly beneath them, could get 4-5 at a time. Just did it last night. Highest rate of success was achieved by always scrolling your items page to the bottom.

If you stop getting them, exit the shop, then reenter, I also went to other areas and came back to Norune, only did it at the Odd Gaffers shop.

@@mrkarate8134, make sure you have Toan's dagger equipped while doing it, it still works, but won't if you have any other weapon equipped. Last played 3-4 months ago. Can double check in a few hours. Just at work

Guys if you're playing this on the PAL Version follow these steps. 1: Go to Gaffer's shop (Not sure if any other shop will do the same, I did on Wise owl's shop but it was giving me some minus stats) 2: Go to the weapon section in your inventory 3: Scroll all the way down till you reach the 5th section (Basically Ungaga weapons) 4: Put your cursor in the shop box and put it in the empty space and do the same thing to get the broken dagger. If I didn't explain it well I make a video of this for the PAL Version.

indeed!, the only thing is that i had to take one by one, but the process is the thing u said and put the dagger inside a weapon then repeat cause idk why you cant get more than one at the same time, so in the end you put all your bugged daggers out of your weapons back to your bag and thats it.

Back in the old days of the original PS2 version of Dark Cloud, there were 2 broken daggers. One that gives your weapon max stats, and one that actually decreases the stats of the weapon it's slotted on. If you get the one that decreases stats, just re-run the game.

What I've realised is, even if I maxed out my weapon using the broken dagger glitch, it's still not as strong as if I had built up my weapon to that point normally, without the glitch. I tried it and the one I maxed out with the broken dagger was weaker for some reason.

One thing is you have to be careful and only and I mean only put one broken dagger when you level up your weapon. If you put more than one, I found while I was experimenting it will actually start to reverse your damage and even sometimes make your weapon so weak it will do 1 hit point only lol. So basically only put one broken bigger per weapon each time you level up the weapon. Then after you level up the weapon with the broken dagger absorbed, next is build up to the weapon of your choice then.

+Lester Mercado 1. Have Gaffer's Buggy in Norune Village, and complete it after placing Pike and his wheel in Paige's house, giving you a full inventory. Equip Toan's Dagger (If you already have it equipped, you must "Equip" it again). Did you guys follow that first

+Joshua Hauser The problem is that you completed the village in the wrong "order." The proper order isn't advertised, but you should have completed one of the villager's houses completely and seen his event before you helped Gaffer. I don't remember the name of the villager, maybe it was Paige's dad? Anyway, you know the event you got when Gaffer hangs up his shop sign himself and falls off, thus hurting his back? If you did the village in the proper order, someone else is hanging up the sign for him, so he doesn't hurt his back in the event. This allows him to run his shop more efficiently, thus providing more items for sale. If you didn't do this, there's no fix for it. You'll just have to start the game over, unfortunately. :(

Wait, I figured out something. o.o Right after you do the broken dagger glitch, do the same thing again. But don't leave the Shop. Press right/x at the same time again. An item from your inventory will pop up.

It's not so much a glitch as it is a developer's tool that they left in to be left unnoticed. You can perform this at more than just the Ol' Gaffer's place.

I thought I didn't work for the first couple of tries, but then I had three broken daggers in my main inventory, not the attachments inventory, so I tried selling them and gaffer told me that I needed it, like it was the actual dagger, but after I tried selling it it went to my attachments inventory, so I put it on a weapon and it did nothing, couldn't trash it so I leveled up the weapon with them to get rid of them, after that one of them worked, then I did the glitch again the it worked, after a couple of tries. Weird that I had to go through a couple of loopholes, but worth it

+TerryRayJr. Before you build Odd Gaffer's shop, make sure to have built Pike's house with Pike in it. He helps Gaffer set up the shop and in doing so you'll have more items available for sale. You might have to redo it.

I got it to work then accidentally discarded the broken dagger lol but I got another I have all six characters ultimate weapons I just really really don’t want to have to build up and status break fifty different weapons to get all the abilities on the weapons lol

+Jussi Korhonen That is because the re-release of Dark Cloud has come out with different versions depending on which region you are in (PAL, NTSC). So what might work for people living in NTSC regions, might not work for people in PAL regions. So you might have to look around to find the correct method for your region. I know this is stupid, trust me I know. It's 2015 and ports have region locking for emulated games.
