This game was a gem… back when Ico came out like my father came back with that game. For some reason my ps2 wouldn’t play it because it was a black disc.. I was so upset but he exchanged it and came back with this game… I was instantly hooked and in retrospect I don’t think Ico would have captured my heart like this game. As a kid I never understood the rpg mechanics which made the game so difficult but fun and lasting. Finally beating the shipwreck level or finally going further than another playthrough

Ahh... Here i'am again... I can remember the amazing feeling i had when i played this for the very first time... It was in the demo disk bundle that came with the PS2... I was so young, and so very long has passed now... I today understand what my mom used to say... *"One day, you will sit on a chair whilist crying remembering these days that came to an end,,, Don't you ever want to be an adult, enjoy your time my son..."* I really want to go back... Just for a day.

My own parents did not really mention this said quote to me, but yet I experience it now. I am 28, reaching 29 in the summer. This game formed my childhood, the very first video game I ever played on PS2 and the most impactful. I have learned a lot from the experience of dark cloud, and I carry a lot with me to this day. Some of it's hidden gems will not vanish, and I am not talking about the gameplay - though I enjoyed the later. Your last sentence made me think about something I did not know I wanted up to now. While I cry right now due to the importance of those times. Yes! Even for a day!

My earliest memory is of my mom playing this game, in the sunken ship level. I don't want to talk much about it, but, i feel as though i missed out on a childhood. And hearing this song brings me to tears each time i hear it because it just reminds me of how much i missed out on, as a kid. Im not gonna say I'm quite an adult yet, not even legally allowed to drink, but it still feels horrible, yknow, to feel like i missed out on doing stupid stuff. I dunno, maybe someone else agrees with me, that childhood is a sacred time. No worries, really, aside of school, maybe, and public appearance if your really give that much of a shit, haha... hey, if a kid is reading this right now- which i heavily doubt- please, tell your parents, whoever they might be, that you love them. That you wouldn't trade them for the world. They need that just as much as you need to hear that from them. You should appreciate your time as someone so young. It really doesn't last forever, and there is no going back. And this next bit is for all of you; Time marches on, to no end. This doesn't mean you shouldn't live your life to the best you can; everyone's fighting out here, for their lives. You may grow old, weary, and bored of the things you find joy in now, but look for something that inspires you, and follow in those steps. Everyone needs more cheer in their life; search for the things that bring that feeling to you. Your time in this world is growing ever shorter by the second, so you might as well try everything now rather than later. Thanks for listening to me ramble. I hope it brought some light to ya. Have a nice day, night... whatever time it is for you, haha... Be well, ~~Snowhead W. Blitz

Memories... only warm memories come to mind when I hear this song. The amount of times I heard this play because I didn’t even know how to save at the time. Or maybe I couldn’t bring myself to not hear it play again. The amount of times I came back from school and played this game. I wish I could go back, and relive my much younger years. It’s only a song, made up of a few tones. But it still manages to make me long for the past. I guess I just needed to hear this song, and remember...

When we're young, we don't place so much emphasis on things. It grows over the years, as our thoughts and memories pile up. It's the essence of all the great teachings. Children don't worry about the past, or the future. They rejoice in the now~ Not that nostalgia's bad, or that our memories of the sweet aren't valid. I first played Dark Cloud when I was five years old. Wasn't very good back then. Got better after a few runs, through the years. ;) But I'm here to dance on a memory as well. Sweet azza cherry candy cane. But there's a magic on putting your experience in reserve. Place all you know on the back burner. Try your hardest to just stop recalling or projecting, for even a moment. And maybe you can catch a glance of that lens again. Dark Cloud may very well have been 'basic' by the standards of modern games. But there's a reason I recall it more fondly than I do, say, Cyberpunk 2077; because I'd not placed the filters of age on it yet. Nothing to compare it to. Nothing to wish it was. That's what Dark Cloud was to me. Nothing wanted. Nothing known. Like a dream, it just sort of fell upon us. Strange characters wrapped up in a strange tale. Tunnels and mimics. Towns where you feel cozy. Plinky-plonky music that makes you wax philosophical. Let us all return to the basics some day, and truly consider what it takes to make a game. Forget the precedent. Forget the expectation of reception. Find what brings delight, comfort, drive, action- even a pinch of fear. That's all it ever really took. Like Darkest Faerie. Deep cut there. Never even really got into Neopets. Surprisingly solid little RPG there. Dead simple. A bit janky. But the people who made it loved it. And you get to feel that. That's what makes something special~
