+Rikusgirl001 It's re-released on PS4 with trophy support, up scaled to 1080p, but the Flapping Duster is still unavailable. This gate key is unavailable in the NSTC and PAL versions of the game, due to a bug. Only the Japanese version has the Flapping Duster but lacks the bonus dungeon Demon Shaft. At least we got a nice 100 floors extra :)

@phoenixkh93 My game has crashed so many times, it has probably crashed over 1000 times by now. Not kidding. And I discovered this glitch menu by complete accident and I have been experimenting with it for around 8 months now.

@Masamune1993 I think there once was a dungeon that used the flame key, but it got scraped and they possibly forgot to remove the key from the game along with the other unused items.

This is ridiculously impressive... So those "back" floors are normally completely inaccessible huh? I can't help but wonder why they would have removed it from the game for the English version, considering that it seems to work fine once you have the duster.

For those still returning to this gem of a video I have to adress something that has been on my mind regarding this item. I have the Greatest Hits banner on my copy of Dark Cloud and it very much does not have the Flapping Duster coded to appear in chests. I'm hearing some people claim they have used the backfloor key in the past and claim it was the English version. Can I be the first to ask: Does the Flapping Duster exist for the regular Black PS2 banner copy? I don't have it so I cant prove it true. Let me know if you can. Thanks a bunch! Edit: For clarification, I have obtained the duster through a glitch 3 times with the Greatest Hits banner copy. So it is in fact programed to work but not coded to appear in chests.

@c8shaman that's a negative, the US and EU versions are the ones that got the Demon Shaft.This is why it is that I'd be all for an idea of mine I have brewing in my head that I simply dubbed the Level 5 collection, with this game, it's sequel and Rogue Galaxy all bundled into one sweet 40 dollar package on the PS3, and with this game in particular receiving a massive overhaul in terms of textures, ironing out glitches (including the Flapping Duster) and giving Japanese folks the Demon Shaft.

I just found this out while playing this is my 3rd game. Japan made a huge error in the English/European versions in a translation they never programed it for you to get a flapping duster. Only the Japanese version can only get it.

They didn't remove it on purpose(or they did, I don't know) but as mentioned everywhere it was the European version & the American version of the games that didn't have the item due to a "mistake" of game programming.

False, both are supposed to be in the game. A mistake was made for the flapping duster and I don't know for the demon shaft and the Japanese version, maybe they made the demon shaft after they were done with the Japanese version but now I'm just speculating.

Tamara Adams it already WAS in the game, in the Japanese version that is. apparently during the localization, the flapping duster was removed accidentally. the data is still there, you just can't get it during the gallery of time

I know it was in the original game >< I think I worded what I said wrongly. I was wondering why was it in the original but not in the localization in any of the languages so did the other languages all get done from the same thing or all use the English or summit, I was curious I did look online but couldn't find anything :) so could they not upload the data back in or did they find out to late? :D

I had the original copy that had the feather duster working and everything.........my mom threw it out... edit- Ha... I feel like this comment was a mistake. Look... Game was original copy->found in hollywood video-> roughly 00-03 (year), could be disc, could be unit, could be both.... all it was, was a backfloor key, and aside from that there really wasn't a massive difference between it and any other version. Those saying I'm lying? I have no reason to lie about a childhood game, I didn't realize it was a technical error/impossibility until I looked it up myself after this idiocy. It was unnatural for the game to "not" have it for me. Believe whatcha want, cause I can't provide evidence that is long gone.

Rikusgirl001 No,it was,and it happened,I don't know which copy I had, cause it was randomly picked up from gamestop long before it went out of business,i received my copy around what was it....99-02? somewhere in there. See,how do I know? Because that was the first thing I pointed out to my family after we received a second copy with the broken feather duster. Our first copy (thrown away for some stupid reason) had a fully functional one. I don't care if you believe me,I have no proof other than that I know for a fact that it existed. But that was the only difference between the two disc copies. And no, the first wasn't in Japanese, it was english.

Wow, okay. First of all Game Stop is still very much in business. Secondly Dark Cloud is a JRPG and was released in Japan in December 2000 and didn't come to the west until 2001. Level-5 is a Japanese company. What you are is a troll who doesn't do their research. I may have believed you if you didn't say it was English first. All you have to do is look at the names of the developers in the credits to know it was made in Japan.

Why is everyone saying it doesn't exist? I've gotten the duster once out of many hours of playing it. Is it confirmed by Konami that it doesn't exist? I'm actually 100% sure it exists because i spent at least 100 hours trying to get it. I hope someone can clarify how rare this item is. I've been searching for video's to find someone else who got it in the Canadian version (probably the same as US?). Please link me with proof for anyone who got it. I will try to get it again and provide evidence. ah I still love this game.

They made an error with both version of the game (English and Japanese), the English one doesn't have the Flapping Duster in the chests as usual while the Japanese one doesn't have the Demon Shaft.
