Dark Creature Sneaking Up To Attack But I Stopped It

I came home and caught the sneaky little dark creature going in for the attack. thankfully I caught it in time and was able to prevent more loss. I show you setting up a trap to try to catch it now. Off grid homesteading always has its challenges.

Bobcats are mostly sight hunters. You need something visual to draw them in from afar. Most trappers use some feathers on a string or even use a CD that will flash in the sun. If you can get their attention from far away, their curiosity will bring them close and then smell and sound should get them interested in that chicken. Good luck, Dutch!

You have to think of the mindset of how the animals eat. Domestic cats imitate it all the time if you watch them play. Mine practices her skills by sneaking up on my dogs. Male cats will have a sexual experience by catching their prey 😮

You will want to make sure nothing blocks the door when it drops. It has to shut completely to lock in place so it won't get out.

Sean, bobcats have a unique bark. You might want to do a google search and see if what you heard sounded like that. My dad raised bobcats, so we had them at home, and have heard it myself. You had just seen the bobcat, chances are it was the bobcat.

The best thing u should have done that u didn't do was soak the trap in the pond at least over night. And your not wearing gloves. So leaving your scent all over that area. Still may work if not follow those directions. Also put trap off driveway. They will follow the path of least resistance. Especially if she has cubs

always do a test --- trip the door to close, and check if it remains closed and ... tight enough to hold a trapped rodent, eg; squirrel, Bobcat, coyote, stray dog, or small wild boar...... they will go nuts inside - settling down when hopes of getting out is gone------ trust me I have trapped and relocated racoons and many squrrels
