Dark Elves kinda suck in Total War: Warhammer III

I agree with a lot of the comments. CA need to address a lot of these problems. For me the poor dark elf lord and hero traits really let the dark elves down- if they were better a few more units in their roster might become viable. Also not being able to buff units much through the tech tree holds you back from recruiting anything other than shade and dark shards stacks. Some of the dark elf names of power need reworking as some are boring/useless/redundant. Changing these could make the player use a more varied range of units in their campaigns making the experience more varied and enjoyable. The beastmaster lord skill tree is a bit meh… it could be improved further to make them a more viable lord in campaign. For example cold ones were meant to be an amazing unit on the table top, even with rampage removed they’re not that great in campaign. If the player could pick a lord with a trait and then give them a better name of power for cold one unit (the current one sucks) and then add on a bit more of a buff from the skill tree then they could be viable on the campaign map. There needs to be more reward for actually using death hags and assassins in your armies. This should be easy to achieve by making more useful recruit traits for them. Also changing their skill tree so they can provide army wide buffs would be good.

The fact that the new Dark Elf economy mechanics are just the Slaanesh mechanic reskinned is all you need to know about how much effort CA seems to want to put into the Dark Elves.

Using Lokhir in my first IE campaign was fun as I got him to steamroll all Cathay, Ghorst, the Ogres, Dragon Isles , Southern Wastes and lower half of the Southlands. Haven't used Malus yet but it looks like AI Morathi and Malekith suffer more from expanding because too many agressive AI boxing them in so good luck confederating because chances are they'll get wiped before you get to them. Hellebron seems to do better despite Alith Anar just south of her and I'm not sure of Rakarth in Lustria yet but I tihnk he got wiped by the Lizardmen in the Lokhir campaign. Yes later in the Lokhir campaing glitches appear like awarded items the UI will display it went to "blank" or even picture another faction lord or hero.

How on earth did you steamroll Cathay? I’ve been getting my ass kicked every battle even by forces less than 3/4 my army size. I’ve been thoroughly disappointed by the DE (playing as Lohkir). I’ve been using all kinds of strategies but my lines just melt against Cathay warriors, even the peasants. It’s so frustrating. I’ve played TW since childhood and have beaten almost every TW game so far so it’s not that I’m a bad player. Either I’m missing something or the DE are pathetic in combat.

Couldn't disagree more. I think Dark Elves economy mechanics are great and really fun! It's more about using dark arks to fight upkeep costs than anything
