Dark Nebula - Unreal Engine 5 Short Movie

The main focus for this production was creating a compeling story driven by a digital human main character and its jorney throughout a dark and hostile SciFi environment inspired in the Alien screenplay (Ridley Scott, 1979). It is the latest project I have created during my studies in RealTime and Virtual Production ‪@Cgspectrum‬
From concept, script and direction to world building, animation and shoting its been a very challenging experience that empowered my passion to create my first short movie for the last 4 months using Unreal Engine 5.

You could a material projection onto a plane

Its a texture applied to a sphere, together with clouds, bump offset and the atmos system

I saw a video by Unreal Sensei that explained a way how to do it. It was part of a bigger video (ground to space transition I think) but you could just follow the part where he textures the sphere and sky

Sorry for a little bit noise. But can you tell me what is fps in the scene? How you make animation? Im newbie here, but the animation in video is not smooth, not fast like less fps, why? Thank you!

Hey Lotus, its rendered at 24fps same as in cinema :) The animations are a mix of hand made and modified premade ones

Did you use any other programs? And where did you source your assets?

I did use Maya for modeling, substance for texturing. But I've tried to contain all the production within the engine

Nahh more than likely a more dedicated software like maya, renderman, Mari Unreal engine possibly for virtual production but aside from that the characters and VFX definitely used more industry standard renders like Houdini etc etc

It's driven by an actress together with Faceware and Unreal LiveLink :)

The scene at 3:35 - 3:50 is a bit awkward, it would be better if it was faster paced. Keep improving your animation, your doing great!

awesome video,is really polished and clean.ive spent a few days learning and making a scene before seeing this... i think i need to go back to drawing board because your video is awesome and so much cleaner,pretty sure now my post process settings was making things look alot worse.. any tips or advice for workflow would be great,also how you preview the scenes,lighting setup etc. iam looking for people to team up with to make some vids would you be interested ?
