hi, do you know if it is possible to get a niagara particules out of focus ? in this short it always seem to be in focus so maybe it is not by choice but because it's impossible ?

Hey mate , achieving a good 10min short film by yourself is already a victory, you have all my respect for that 👍 Of course it's not perfect, the sound design would need a lot more attention especially for the background ambiences in the base and in the ship, some metahuman animations are to rigids... but there are some really cool ideas like the "glitch", the "visions" with fast editing, some nice camera angles here and there and the overall quality is really good. Being myself in the process of making my first UE5 short film i known for shure how hard and time consuming it is! Thanks for your tutorials and your work and good continuation on your UE journey!

I liked it, I was engaged, I wanted to know what was going to happen. A+ for story writing. I'm a new indie movie maker myself, if I can offer a bit of criticism, when he was being pulled into the portal I didn't feel it. I would suggest maybe pulling the body from the middle towards the portal, arms and feet going back. Feet scraping the ground maybe kicking some rocks up. Other than that the only other thing I can see is the voice over. I would have maybe added a bit of static like he's talking over a radio, and it sounded kind of flat. Awesome job even those couple things didn't keep me from being on the edge of my seat the whole video

Did you use Lumen for the final render? I ask because of the shimmering/distortion/moire in areas with fine detail like his facial hair. Awesome job anyway! (only watched the first 2 minutes so far.)

Thanks and yes I did use lumen. Those artifacts I think there is a shadow issue with small translucent things and lumen. Next time no facial hair 😆

story - great assets - great character - good animation - good but visual presentation to look cinematic or filic was poor.. need to improve in cinematography (camera movements, camera angles and shot division ) sound design was very poor, could not feel the scene intensity and mood. i see you as my guru.. i expect more good contents from you.. please don't mind my opinions..love from India.🙏❤️

Too many of these UE short films consist of Metahumans standing around or awkwardly walking. I get that it takes time but the engine can do so much more.

Lots to unpack here. He hyped this up quite a bit. The Big Stuff -Get a graphic designer. Or make an effort with the text. -Talking through the plot instead of showing. Jesus man. Youre really gonna say everything youre about to do? -Voice acting is weak here. With Fiverr, theres no excuse not to get someone for cheap to do it properly. -Awkward body movements and complete lack of idle facial animation -Weird desaturation throughout, and a very flat/high-mid grade -No sense of atmosphere on the ship, or on the planet -CRANKED the bloom and lens flare for no grounded reason. Little Stuff -The guy is speaking in his head but the voice has a physical room reverb -The alien flickering was heavy handed. No suspense from music or SFX. -Lights that arent even set to render Before Depth of Field @ 2:10, particles @ 2:04 -Script on the right side of the screen @ 2:21 is just gibberish. At least make an effort. -The rock scatter on mars is too much and overly generic.Low Res landscape. -Awkward "slippery" slide when the camera POV oddly hits the ground -Annoying lens flare while piloting ship -Out of focus shots I thought it would be a lot better.

@@kobenkoneb3147 True on all points. I'm just absolutely sick to death of these UE 'Short films' with dead eye characters, clunky movements and simply walking forward with long pans. It makes the engine look like a complete joke.
