Curry (Rod Taylor) at the beginning of this movie talks about "Busting Through U.N Lines" - As if they were a force to be reckoned with! Then, A U.N aircraft engaging in combat? please... Still, it makes for a good action scene and a great movie.
Rod Taylor has to be one of my all time favourite character actors - He should have taken on more tough guy leading roles in action movies such as this jungle caper.

Great film , the 60's were the last decade of these type of epic films . Rod Taylor I heard was a runner up for Bond back in the day . I heard a lot was censored because of the violence .We are talking about Africa were they love to take a machete chop you up . So that stuff was cut from what you see in this film . Jim Brown costars .

Yes, believe it or not but I was 9 years old when this movie was shot in St. Mary, Jamaica and play a part of being among the passengers coach which was blasted after living the Train station... I can still hear the bullets thundering in my ears.

Stupenda pellicola, certo non è chissà che cosa ma comunque è interessante con scontri a fuoco realistici e ben realizzati, ci sono degli errori come il fatto che Curry indossa un'insegna da paracadutista della Legione Straniera francese sul suo berretto, ma richiede una traduzione costante quando qualcuno parla francese. Most merc’s carried FN FAL rifles. Although there was a hodge lodge of weapons there from WW2 surplus German, French sub machine guns, American 1911’s and smith Wesson revolvers etc. some of the old photos I have show just a variety of war surplus. There is a book out there written by a South African merc. He served under Mike Hoare. He doesn’t speak highly of old mad Mike. But gives a “grunts” insight of what was really going on. He talks about US Air Force with marines flying in ammo and supplies to them.

One scene where Taylor fires the 50 cal machine gun, you can clearly see there is no ammo can in the holder attached to the weapon and no ammo belt visible. Apparently no blank ammo was available for the .50 caliber heavy machine guns carried on the train. When they are "fired" at the attacking UN plane, there is no recoil or movement of the ammo belt. You're right, very similar scenes, and when I saw them I could better appreciate the comparison because I watched them for the first time in the same period when I was 11 In the novel this scene is different, they don't hide into a tunnel, but they save themselves only thanks to heavy clouds

It was a P-51 Mustang, and the 6 -50 cal. bullets would have torn that train up pretty well. I have seen gun camera footage of Mustangs attacking trains in WW-2 and they do a job on them. Sometimes the train explodes.

No , here's a link but the sound isn't that great. The train station was scheduled to be taken down so a deal was cut to use it for the movie and actually destroy it with explosives to simulate a air bombing.
