I'm pretty sure that in the new Lightyear movie, the toys in Toy Story are based off of them. Buzz is an actual figure in history and they made toys of him to honor him.I also think that the planet he crash landed on is earth. When they try to escape and get knocked back down, they land in the dark side of the planet. They crashed into a different hemisphere. Because they stay on the planet, they are some of the first people to be there and that's why buzz has a figurine of him (also because he was an honored space ranger).
