Fiercely loyal, super-strong, determined to do right by him - he could trust him with his life & his son's life - they are truly great qualities, found only in a true friend.

Very interesting. It is my humble opinion, that while Dracula seem to have been vengeful and cruel in the way he treated his opponents, he also genuinely seem to have loved the people of Romania and seem to have been tried to save them from oppression. On the other hand there has been a power struggle between the Roman Church and the Eastern Orthodox church that played a major role in this, and eventually in his demise. to me all those legends about him being a vampire, etc were created by the church, as this has been one of the ways in which they asserted control over the ignorant/unenlightened populace. In my eyes he was just a human being, imperfect, but driven to help. What I am trying to say is that the Orthodox church condemned him for a political reason, which is not based in reality. They do not have the power to condemn a person to be undead. That is my take. In any event, thank you for sharing this and shedding light on this story, and how events turned into an unreal myth.

I think there were some Christians who hated Vlad even more than the Ottomans hated him. As I've Iearned in my childhood and then, years later, I've read by myself, those Christians are the ones reponsable for starting the myth of Vlad the Vampire. That myth has its origins even in Vlad's period of time (the second half of the X15-th century). Bram Stoker only exploited that original myth, because of some reasons I only can assume. Here I am refering to those German merchants and German political & administrative leaders from Brașov, Sibiu and few other trade centers (burgs) from Central Transylvania (all those Germans being known as ”sași” in Romanian language), people who lived during Vlad's rule over Wallachia. Those ”sași” were belonging to the Christian Catholic and/ or Protestant Churches, while Vlad was of Orthodox Christian faith. There are opinions that the same ”sași” leaders are responsable for his incarceration at the hands of Mattias Corvin, who was then ruling Transylvania.

@@badeadrian :'( Hope it will get better one day. I'd respect each of the crew and staff if I created a movie 😊 It's collective work.
