This was good. I've seen a lot of documentaries and even a couple movies about this case but this one was done really well. Timothy Dalton does a great job though it is a bit difficult to see Henry Czerny in a priest's outfit again after watching The Boys Of Saint Vincent. And of course Piper Laurie, who just passed away may she rest in peace and Christopher Plummer, may he rest in peace. I can't imagine what the family, not to mention Roland Doe, went through but it has been said that after it was over he ended up fine with a family of his own and no more occurences so that's a good thing to know. 😎👍

You watch scary movies all the time, because all you see on TV are scary movies one way or another. The point is they are not advertised as scary films. They can be called comedies, family films, etc. The news is composed of nothing but scary movie after scary movie. The scariest of all are the children´s movies. I think you were not supposed to see it and probably somebody did not want you to see it. If you had seen it at the right time you would understand how there are other entities out there and what causes people to become possessed and then you would find out what to do about it. Once you become aware of that you do not start believing that Jesus or St. Michael were actual, real characters. Instead what happens is that it becomes harder to manipulate you because now you have access to information about another religion than the dominant one in your area.

The Garden scene where the priests and nuns are seated while eating was filmed at Toronto's "The Guild Inn". I think some of the more religious status were just inserted for the filming. It is a huge Sculpture Haven! I can make out the old Hotel and that long, long garden overlooks Lake Ontario from the top of the Scarborough Bluffs. The walkway ends at the Gate. One of my favourite spots in the world! A part of the Bluff close to this spot collapsed two summers ago.

Actually, He conquered death, hell and sin! He conquered evil. He also wants us to save this world and not conquer it. We do this by suffering as He did and it's His Love that will conquer and has conquered the evil one.

@@heatherstub You are so right, but people have let themself lured by Evil and have lost their way with war, materialism, and venomous tongue stepping on the weak instead of helping. the Catholic Church has a special unit of trained priests for exorcisms. They have performed many and Bob Larson was hired by the church to train those clergy. Many exorcisms have been performed, this is not the only one depicted in the move. I myself have witnessed several with Bob Larson.

That is because the movie is based on a true story (1949) which actually inspired the production of The Exorcist movie franchise. In fact, the "boy" real name was Ronald Edwin Hunkeler, DOB: 1st June 1935 & he passed away on 10 May 2020.

A decent movie. It is based on the book Possessed by Thomas B. Allen, published in 1993, about 20 years after the Exorcist novel and movie based on the same case as Allen's book. Unlike the Exorcist, the 1993 book is classified as non-fiction, despite being equally hard to accept as possible.

Possession may be hard to accept for some. But spiritual events just don't ask for the approval of atheists in order to happen, they just happen.

@@velinas_ Most people are already hard pressed to believe in god and don't even consider believing in the devil. But you cannot have one without the other. If you truly believe in god, then you have to accept the devil is real, angels are real and thus demons are real.

@@rjvanloon4769 There are many divine beings, not just one. The abrahamic religions are lying to you in this regard. And yes, Abyssal and Infernal (not the same) entities do exist. Some of the infernal ones are deities of cultures lost to history. Other are entirely different entities. The horror movies mostly get it all wrong. And why shouldn't they. They are typically just entertainment. In rare cases they are facts disguised as fiction.

@@rjvanloon4769 -- and yet most religious Jews believe in God but don't have the equivalent of the Devil in their belief (their views on Satan mentioned in Job are not the same as the Christian Devil/Satan as he is usually considered to be working on God's team). So I guess one can believe in God without believing in the Devil. 😈

According to any exorcists that speak about exorcisms, they always do the exorcisms in a church during the day, not at night away from a sacred place. Sounds like Hollywierd did some changes to make it look frightening.
