Yeah, I'm not a Metroid fan myself, but I found it very odd. If none of the composers wanted to do a new arrangement, then why not grabbing the original? It feelt like a wasted opportunity. But do to the insane amount of tracks in Smash Ultimate, it was nothing to severe, or at least to me.

This remix really captures how utterly alien and *wrong* Dark Samus is. Let’s just put this into perspective. This thing started as an artificially created lamprey amoeba thing that got addicted to a sentient and *highly radioactive* slurry and fed itself until it heavily mutated into a monstrous insectoid abomination who’s core, still resembling an amoeba but now with a skeletal structure and a _humanoid face_ absorbed a set of power armor, adapting into a humanoid form with chitinous body armor and a gaseous core that can regenerate in an instant and then proceeded to establish itself as the true identity of an entire _planet-sized hive mind_ of the same radioactive slurry that mutated it in the first place. Reminder this abomination is in Smash.

Dark Samus is a perfect “nobody to nightmare” story. She was just an ordinary Metroid, no different from any other - that just happened to be at ground zero when the Leviathan that was sent to Tallon IV came down. This random, nondescript monster would go on to usurp the eldritch planet itself and become the greatest threat the universe had ever seen. Not bad for a tiny, gelatinous bioweapon.

Such a fitting song for the holiday and you enhanced the elements that sent shivers down my spine when I first heard this in game eons ago. That dread, the feeling of "this THING can take over me", knowing it's only weakness is the same stuff that could corrupt you into another it, Dark Samus was a legitimate threat on so many levels.

Awesome cover! Dark Samus was one of the reasons I became a Metroid fan; Prime 1 was my introduction to the franchise (outside of Samus being playable in SSB), and the ending made me want to see and experience even more of what the franchise had to offer, and it didn't disappoint. I think they should've had her name change to Metroid Prime in the final battle in Prime 2 where she doesn't wear the mask and you can easily tell she's Metroid Prime, even if you didn't get the 100% cutscene from Prime 1

I only finally got around to playing all the way through Metroid Prime 3 this year. I hated the game's emphasis on cinematic cutscenes and dialogue during the intro, and Bryyo was single-handedly my least favorite area in the whole game, and it all culminates with what I think is the worst boss of the entire trilogy, Mogenar. But after that, you're greeted to probably my favorite environment in the trilogy, Sky City, and the game finally clicked for me. I love Metroid Prime 3... maybe not the intro, but at least the rest of it was what I loved about the series. I especially loved the fight with Gandrayda; I survived that fight with literally one point of health left!

I held off on listening to this because I hadn't started Metroid Prime 3 at the time (needed a break from Prime 2 lol), now I'm here right after beating it (took me significantly less time to beat thankfully, started it about a week ago) to say this embodies Metroid Prime's style of music very well.
