The professionalism of the actors was impressive. That they can stay in character and save the scene after flubbing up. I've seen stage actors do the same.

@auboy773 жыл бұрын
exactly, that and the sets/ props not always cooperating gives the show a verisimilitude that is unique in the history of film / tv as those “mistakes” are almost always caught and edited out. we may never see this again unless its purposely done.

I would have to say my top three fave "bloopers" are: During the closing credits of one the episodes: Collinwood living/drawing room, Jonathan comes on camera and picks up his clothes. 2. There are one or two, a few that shows flies, # 3 Barnabas picking his nose!

Great video! Thanks for uploading. A word about the way DS was shot. It was videotaped "live to tape," which means it was recorded in advance, as the slate at the opening of the video shows, but it was recorded as if it were a live show. The first electronic video tape editor wasn't introduced until about 1970, which explains why so many programs were recorded on tape in the 70's. It was possible to edit videotape in the 1950's and 1960's, as the absence of bloopers from some prime time network variety shows, and the videotaped episodes of the Twilight Zone show, but the editing had to be done manually, but cutting and splicing the videotape and it was a meticulous, tedious and time consuming process, not suited for daily shows which were, at best on a tight and demanding schedule.

@@pattibrooks1907 From Amazon book about Dark Shadows goofs "Dark Shadows was produced live in sequence, without stopping to correct any mistakes. " meaning what John eluded to. They could have corrected the mistakes, but chose not to. Just redo the scene, and slice the bad one out of the tape.

I have heard (perhaps it's just an apocryphal story with no truth) but the only time they ever "looped" a line on the original DS show (and doing audio looping was incredibly expensive) was where Joan Bennet accidentally said "Hollywood" instead of "Collinwood." Can you imagine?? I.e. "Roger, take me back to Hollywood!"

Especially if you are nervous talking to a few peple trying to convey directions etc. That said you can learn how to deal with that from DS's master of recovery Roger saying @ 1:16 ' when i got to that big curve about a 100 miles, 100 miles, seemed like a 100 miles..."
