Parker did not want to play a bad guy when she was hired, and she admits it took extensive coaching from Frid to make her see that the villainess is truly an actor's plum. The writing helped enormously, slowly grafting elements of vulnerability and doubt to the character to go with her fiery temper. As the series progressed, Parker's confidence and downright love for Angelique is unmistakable. Like many other DS actors, Parker deserves a retroactive Emmy.

They sure did! Grayson Hall and Lara Parker were some of the best talents on the show, and they were both lucky to have a tremendous dynamic with Jonathan Frid.

When I was a little kid watching Dark Shadows [and not mature enough to understand that love is fickled and that there are so many factors involved in whom we love], I used to wonder how on Heaven and Hell does Angelique who is so dam beautiful love Barnabas who at the time I thought of as very ugly! It was a source of confusion to me. Now, as an adult, I understand that life is a bit more complicated than that.

wow. would you believe it, that towards the end of the video, when josette was helping a choking barnabas, i thought of her as the young thing Barnabas left Angelique for? seriously, you got me rooting for angelique. lol, love it :) angelique and barnabas have one of those complex relationships... haha

I hope she doesn't get *too* involved in her character though. So far she has stayed within the Dark Shadows fandom, but she has a lot of talent so it would be nice to see her play/write about someone else for a change. Angelique, like most other characters, was written well while somewhat inconsistently. It becomes apparent in 1795 that she is more than a little mentally unhinged, which is something I wish the writers had stayed with as it made her more interesting and dangerous as a villain.
