Back in the early 70s I was sitting in my room alone. The sun had just set, I had the lights out, and this song came on the radio. It became one of those moments I've carried with me all these years. The best way I can describe it is a moment when solitude encompasses the universe.

Such a haunting melody. I keep on coming back to this song again and again.

this is the best movie intro that I heard , Tim Burton is a genius . 😆
@benhenschel1457 жыл бұрын
Because he played a song over it that everyone and their mom has nostalgic associations with? No, no. It's got some nice cinematography and Bella Heathcote is a stunner but this is a fairly "safe" and generic intro, although a cool one.

@chalapsico6 жыл бұрын
Ben Henschel Okay, but in his eyes it's the best intro that he's heard. Just because it's a generic song doesn't mean that he can't be a genius in his perspective, maybe he has his own reasons to say so. That attitude was not needed, everyone has their own views on stuff and we should respect them unless they include harming or disrespecting other people lol

Ohhhh me three :) This song used to make me cry as a kid , it was so sad but pretty and lonely. This was perfect for the movie showing the train going through all the lonely, isolated territory of Maine as if leaving the real world and entering into an alternate world cut off.

I grew up watching the first tv dark shadows. Now That I know that the movie had "Nights In White Satin" as the soundtrack for the whole beginning I have to check it out. I do feel bad because I do not think the real band gets any royalties rom this song being played.

And whenever I travel in Indian railways, I listen to this track, it's so soothing and nostalgic. Everyday we are listening to so many new songs, but it's so different with this song, makes me come back and to listen this again.
@kaktotak82676 жыл бұрын
I've been thinking for awhile what's the significance of this sequence, especially with this music. I have an idea. I think it serves the same purpose as, say, train ride in Harry Potter. It's meant to transport the audience to the realm of the gothic fairy tale setting of Burton's Dark Shadows. If the movie went straight to 1972 Collinsport, it would look like a historical setting and all the gothic stuff would seem out of place.

I watched this for the first time when I was 6. Absolutely adored it. Forgot about it for years. Watched it again years and years later- hated it. Watched it again yesterday. Went back to adoring it. I think that people just expected this to be the best thing ever when it never really was going to be. If you put aside the whole ‘critical’ movie viewing aspect, this is actually a genuinely fun and entertaining little film. I really love it and it’s one of my favourite Tim Burton films
