Actually, it‘s not just Havel‘s armor that says it‘s worn by Havel‘s men. Most importantly, his RING also says that. And the ring is the only item we actually get from „Havel“ locked in the tower. All of the other stuff (e.g. the tooth) are actually locked away in Anor Londo, indicating that the tooth tower-Havel is using isn‘t the real one. Tower-Havel being one of Havel‘s men instead of Havel himself makes more sense to me.

I assumed the 'shitpost' remark was in regards to the video itself. Because, the original video doesn't parse out the term 'power'. Even though he claims 'depth' to his so-called analysis. Then...even in the opening moments of his commentary he completely dismissed several characters. This should be an immediate red flag. His presentation should CERTAINLY be able to accommodate a placement, if his evaluative process were actually something substantive. Spoiler alert: it isn't. He spent so much time on it, too....😢 This lacks any sort of evaluative authority, as it completely eschews at worst, or simply omits at best, explaining its own evaluative methodology.🫠

- I don't understand why Ricard is ranked lower than Oscar. Doesn't the fact that he's in Sen's Fortress mean he rung the bells of awakening? Ricard is familiar with special sword techniques, as indicated by the unique heavy attack on his weapon. he's no pushover. Just look at the weapon art associated with his weapon in Dark Souls 3, it is SPECIFICALLY named after him, not just the weapon, but the technique itself. This isn't just a spoon fed prince, this is a SWORDSMAN. - From Weapon Description in DS3: "Although many of the tales surrounding the prince are questionable, this thrusting weapon suggests that the stories of his graceful technique were in fact true." - There's zero evidence of anyone accompanying him and helping him progress to this point. - Just because his journey is ill-conceived doesn't mean he isn't a legitimate warrior. What other choice does he have? He's marked by the undead curse.
@WyattOTS5 ай бұрын
I kinda like to think his appearance in ds3 is his redemption into swordsmanship, just like with haval, and orinstein going to make amends with the dragons and gwyns first born it’s richards redemption at becoming a true swordsman and he even dropped the armor to not fake being an elite status warrior like he was faking in the past.
@Aladyn3775 ай бұрын
@wyattonthespectrum5853 I disagree. Ricards' rapier in DS1 has a unique heavy attack. He was already a trained swordsman using special sword techniques. I appreciate your insight, though. Maybe you're right 🤷♂️. I just feel that Ricard has been arbitrarily ranked low despite evidence pointing to the contrary.

@@Aladyn377 I was suprised at first too by the ranking, but the interesting part about souls is how you never truly know. Discussions like these are what drives this comunity. Richard is one of my fav npcs, so either way id be happy with the outcome.
@Gabriel644685 ай бұрын
Good point with the DS3 flavor text. Personally I think including DS3 info is weird (Andre should be lower imo) though - there isn‘t just a lot of time between the games, but also multiple cycles of regrowth and ruin. Assuming any information about individuals is correct is a bit of a reach - there might be other people of the same name for all we know. At the same time I think it’s worth noting that even if we take it as gospel, the ranking is still off just a couple of spots. DS lore is famously sparse, so a video like this is heavy in interpretation by necessity. Arguing about any specific sequence is moot, the focus should be on the arguments for characters, not their final placement (which you do tbc, I think arguing about Ricards feats makes sense, I just don’t think it makes sense to then go an compare him directly to Oscar)
@Aladyn3775 ай бұрын
@Gabriel64468 I'm comparing him to Oscar because they're both Astoran knights whose origins are a bit vague. That's pretty much the only reason. I included the DS3 flavor text because it very specifically expounds on the character. Flavor text is one of the only "true" sources of information we have. I don't think it's unreasonable to use a sequels information as canonical, especially considering that we're talking about Fromsfotware here. Nothing is included on accident. Not sure what you mean about me not making an argument for the character itself. That's exactly what I'm doing. You make some fair points, though. I guess when I made the original comment I felt some type of way because I always considered Ricard to be one of the more "fearsome" NPC's (from a lore perspective).
@octavian152023 ай бұрын
My personal head cannon about Oscar is not that he couldn't defeat the asylum demon, but rather he chose to live in constant danger to try and help as many undead out of the asylum as possible. He knows an undead must link the flame and is sacrificing his journey, to enable all other's journeys.

If he had to fall, he would've been in somewhere middle of the room. I feel like lore wise the Fair Maiden can probably still cast pyromancies/flame sorceries and just chooses not to, but I could be wrong. Also, for Beatrice, there were other early sorceries. I feel like Iron Tarkus accomplished a lot more than falling off the rafters in Anor Londo. I feel it’s more likely he entered the painted world and might have fought Pricilla. Find it more likely cause you can see the presence of another Berenike knight in the painting, which would fit his character significantly better especially when you consider Pricilla’s strength lore wise. Iron Tarkus was definitely no slouch and lore wise we can assume the iron golem was significantly more of a challenge than knives throwing acrobats. His body is also more to the side of the rafters and unless he survived the fall and crawled to the corner and died, I see it as unlikely that’s how he died. If that was somehow the case dude definitely should be getting more points for that, and if he fought Pricilla and escaped he should be way up the list.

@KyleJordanGaming5 ай бұрын
“Sort of(?)” and “no you didn’t”, respectively. The Gwynevere you meet in DS1 is just an illusion that instantly ‘dies’ if hit with a wooden arrow (Disclaimer: any potential innuendo regarding the previous is probably entirely coincidental and merely a figment of your imagination). And even trying to ‘powerscale’ the real Gwynevere would pretty much boil down to “Well she a ‘goddess’ and all, which do sound pretty dope, but she doesn’t really do anything through the entire series, so... /shrug...?” Which is kind of a lame answer, so I can see not including her.

In number 28! I don’t think the ds2 greatwood giants are the same sort of giants as the ones in Lordran/Lothric. The storm ruler in DS3 speaks of another race of giants in the Far East refereed to as Oni. Also Yhorm the giant I don’t think is a giant (race), more so just a really big human, after all, to link the fire one must feed it souls, undead act as a walking bag of holding for souls, it would mean for Yhorm to be a lord of cinder he had to be an undead, and only humans can be undead because of the darksign & the dark soul
@livetrash113823 күн бұрын
The undead curse spreads to other creatures, the undead dragons in Valley of Drakes and Painted World - you could argue Gwyn is afflicted with it since in his bossfight he is clearly hollow and to go hollow you have to be undead. Giant souls are also more powerful than human souls (In DS2 random Giant Souls are way stronger than random human souls) so even if Yhorm wasn’t undead he may still have a powerful enough soul to link the flame.
