Ok brother, let me put you out of your misery. Two things; 1. Go back to Majula, you missed the important NPC who not only gives you your flask but lets you level up. 2. The game has a mechanic where the more you die, the less health you have. The ring you picked up in the chest will limit that health reduction to 25%. You also can burn an item called an effigy to get back to 100% health but it is a consumable that you would need to farm like Embers in DS3 or Rune Arcs in Elden Ring.

Watching this man butthole get gaped by Radahn for somewhere north of 20 hours, And finally managing to squeak out a win against the hardest boss in FromSoft history, To immediately getting washed multiple times by a beginning game boss that probably has managed to kill 30 people total across every game save. @Afrosenju I've beaten DS2 a billion times. 1 thing you need to know is about adaptability. This allows you to use items quicker like healing. At Stat 16, you're drinking healing juice real quick. Talk to the hooded red head lady to get your Estus Flasks in Majula and access to level up. Next to where you fell down the hole in majula, the building to the right has a cat npc you can buy the cat ring 😉

Please do a full playthrough of this. I've always loved this game and don't think it deserved the hate that some gave it. Also there's an awesome hidden boss attached to the Pilgrims of Dark covenant called Dark Lurker that is badass. Explore Majula more. There's another way to go to a forest, technically you went the harder way first.
