Dark Souls 2 is the best souls game

Been having more fun in DS2 than DS3 and EldenRing. I do enjoy ds3 bosses more but thats about it. You are 100% right about the older games focusing more on area based difficulty rather than the only challenge being bosses.

Honestly I wouldnt say its the best but its the most replayable or at least extremely close second to Elden Ring.

I read all the negative reviews about DS2. I almost didn’t play it because of them. I did play the game and kept enjoying it more and more. I love this game and do not agree with the criticism. The levels are great the areas and enemies are amazing. I put Elden Ring down to go back to DS2. Love it.

While I can't say I've played DS3 nearly as much as DS2 or even finished Elden Ring, I can say that from my experience. DS2 & Bloodborne have easily been my favorite Souls games to date.

The beginning area is probably the most complex out of all the souls games. Even I forget where you're supposed to go. But I know there is this one bonfire with a merchant that is in the middle of everything important. Next boss after Last Giant is the Pursuer I think. Also the house key opens the house in Majula near the pigs. There is a giant ass hole that you need a ring to go down. That ring is also how you go down into that fire pit with the lizards.

ds2 easily has the most problems in the series, but i dont think its the worst like a lot of people say it is. it does some stuff well enough that i come back from time to time, which isnt true for every game. fromsoft also lifted heavily from ds2 when making elden ring so they clearly thought the same

Seriously? Dark Souls 2 is mid at best. Bosses are forgettable, boss arena mechanics are annoying and terribly implemented, hitboxes are unclear, regular enemies are lackluster, most of the maps are boring, bland, and forgettable. I just played the game not two days ago, and I couldn't even tell you what most of the bosses were nor where I found them. The game does receive its undue criticism. For example, dodge rolling is useful provided you understand how the mechanics work, and combat is better than people understand also. The build variety is outstanding as well. Finally, the armor sets and sound effects are some of the best designed in the Souls series. Despite any positive mentioned here, Dark Souls 2 is mid-tier as a stand-alone title and the worst in the Souls series, and it isn't even close.

@@lt.mouse1485 this all sounds like a major skill issue (just kidding) the dodging is so easy in ds2 probably the easiest in any souls game. Upgrade your adaptability to max and enemies Litteraly can not hit you if you spam dodge because your hitbox is so small. Or the dodge window is so large forgot which it was. I agree some bosses are forgettable but not every boss. I do agree with some of your points however, I do not think it has lackluster map design. I think majula is the best hub out of any souls game ever created. It’s beautiful. The game is definitely good, I just feel like for fromsoft standards it’s mid. I can see that. But without playing any other souls game first the game is a definitely 10/10. Also I would have to disagree on it being the worst in the souls series. That title probably goes to demon souls. I think 90% of the bosses in that game are forgettable and the places are just the same. But that makes since though because it’s the first in the series.

@@bravelotus the art style looks the same to me I haven’t really noticed too much of a difference. I think humanity is a greet change. Wasn’t a fan of that in the first game. And leveling at bonfire is annoying how you have to go to majula every time but I don’t mind. And kindling, not sure. I’m pretty sure you can keep giving estus shards and it will keep going higher even in NG+

nothing is peak about elden ring. even the graphics (especially the trees) are flat as hell. granted, the structures look nice and the water is nice, character models are fine, but the gameplay is just utter shit. it wouldnt be, if the map was a bit more condensed tho

@ it doesn't tie into DS lore at all, but it reuses alot of thematics from DS lore. which uses thematics from berserk...which uses thematics from christinaity and paganism....

@ it does tie into either lore, every souls game have items and boss lore that ties in all the games. Even sekeiro, (to an extent) but yes it does re use a lot of stuff from earlier souls games. Like reskin of orenstien and smough. God skin duo, etc.
