@heman true, at least for me. You can easily beat the game with any weapon sold by blacsmith. Upgrade +10 and some spells/miracles and you will have np. You'll only find trouble in bosses, maybe 2 or 3, that counters you with type of spell or weapon. But you just play it safer, that's all.

his goal was to upgrade the wepon to +8, so he needed to burn de ascetic at Chanrdinals bunfire to spawn 3 Chunks at the trap-chess below the red enemmies, because in normal run there is just a single shard And Last Giant and Pursurer are so easy, so you can kill'em twice and gain even more souls than just killing the D.Rider twice. And the whole world knew DR cheese, so he did something different that no many knows

Yeah I immediately discount any kind of video that relies on pushing into the NG. The rapier really doesn't need this kind of skipping either. Just kill everything, be super patient, run from mobs and avoid the first pursuer fight. By the time you actually get to the pursuer boss fight your chopstick will be levelled up and you'll actually be able to play the game.

For anyone playing the Original DS 2 instead of SOTFS. You can do almost the same like in this Video, until you can upgrade your Weapon to +5, then you can go in the Depth to the area with that Black Hand enemies that coming out of the oil on the ground. Use the Bonfire there and kill this enemies to farm Large titanite Shards and the Titanite Chunks. Now you have a +9 weapon and go back to the first Area in the room were the enemies soot with Balist (you need the pharaoh item there) and that gives you the last Item to make a +10 Rapier.

You never got an answer. You probably know by now but rapier has 140 counter modifier; estoc only has 120. So the rapier vastly outdamages it during counter hits.

Good choice. Nice counter damage, can be acquired early on. Use the stone ring and stagger enemies with running r1s

Dont get greedy for hits... and impatient...hit him once or twice..and roll back to asess the situation... then come back for another hit. Look at his legs, as soon as you see the begining for animation for stomping ... roll back... dont spam the attack button so your character would be locked in attacking when the stomping begins... attack two times ( click the button two times ) and then see what is happening or move around a bit...if he is still not stomping hit him one more time... then pre-emptively move to attack the other leg...one or two times.

bonfire ascetics set the area to NG+, meaning that the whole area resets, ( items included ), and has increased difficulty. So you should just grab everything and run until you level up since the enemies are much tougher. The more ascetics you burn, the harder the area gets every time it is reset. The max level is NG+ 8.

You can parry the pursuer, step into the danger zone don't be afraid. Position yourself in front of the ballista, when he charges at you parry him and he will be stunned for 5 secs at least, then run behind ballista and light'em up.

Yes. 1) It's extremely fast attack speed (crucial for Ring of Blades) 2) It has very low stat requirements (ideal for early game or SL1 play throughs) 3) It has 140 counter rating, making counter pokes extremely effective. 4) It's thrust damage so the Leo ring modifies counter thrusts even further. 5) It's light weight, so you can run Flynn's Ring and get another huge boost to your damage. All around, it's the best speed running weapon in the game. And with RoB/Flynn's Ring, an R1 spamming Rapier +10 is about as high of DPS as you can get.

Mace did better on knights because they're in armour. Using maces will be always more effective on armoured enemies / bosses. Also if you use magic pine resin, then it will do even more damage on armoured enemy.

I am mega late but there's a reason the rapier is the speedrunner choice, it's fast, does alot of damage, upgrades on normal titanite making it easy to level and it even has a really nice parry animation 2 handed.
