I love it when pianists actually explain their arrangements. You did a great job in every possible way making this.

Call me crazy, but the 1st phase is my fav part of the whole song. Especially 1:01 I love the switch to something more distorted but… melancholic and introspective? Idk it almost reminds me of Gwynn’s theme with the left hand playing that GORGEOUS melody
@moonlapsepiano7 ай бұрын
I love phase 1 too! It's brooding and menacing but also beautiful. And now that you say it, that melody definitely resembles Gwyn's. Thanks for watching! 💜

You long walls of text on your video truly help me really understand the logic behing your .midi; it makes it easier for a beginner like me to understand what's going on. Underrated channel.

@@moonlapsepiano I've been studying it since yestesday and I wonder, is there a reason as to why C# is used during Dm/F near 3:10 ? edit: never mind I just found out about what you said about IIIaug from harmonic scale. That's a genius move! I've been looking for a way to avoid III because it wipes away the darkness of your music edit2: At this point maybe I should just switch to harmonic minor
@moonlapsepiano2 жыл бұрын
@@sickle7291 Haha yeah harmonic minor is definitely a good idea for this type of mood. It is interesting to take that Faug triad over D and transpose up into each of its voicings. But yeah the fromsoft composers (and me) usually avoid that natural 7. However there are definitely exceptions, Yoshimi Kudo uses a natural minor seventh chord in Lichdragon Fortissax during the phase 2 chorus. So it’s not a hard rule

Watched this so many times already, thank you for this!! Amazing work, and the music theory in the description is my favorite part again haha. I showed my jazz teacher the lichdragon translation you made and he thought it was the coolest shit ever in the second phase. Can't wait to disect this one too! Now that you're on the track to making piano covers of DS3 tracks never made before, I've always wanted to see Pontiff Sulyvahn's theme in piano, what do you think? :)
@moonlapsepiano2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dyroth I really appreciate your support! And that you thought the description was interesting, that helps me know I should keep writing those. I am glad your jazz teacher liked it too, he sounds like a cool guy. Pontiff definitely a possibility in the future, I will add him to my list - I might be doing a Bloodborne one next though 😈

Can't believe it, you really did it! The fact that you managed to make the 1st phase good (which is pretty hard to do on piano) shows your skill, also the 2nd phase... perfect, you are a master of piano, good job:) (my english is bad, i know XD).

Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed the description. I have a few options I’m looking at deciding between, including Fallen Knights, God Devouring Serpent, Morgott, Regal Ancestor Spirit (would be v hard), High Lord Wolnir (DS3), Amygdala and Darkbeast from Bloodborne. Trying to hit incredible undertated songs that there is no great arrangement for yet

This is great, I love the second phase especially. The music theory analysis is very impressive, do you have any resources or tips for learning music theory? I'm interested in learning more music theory but I'm lost on where to start.
@moonlapsepiano Жыл бұрын
Hey Nafi Khan, thank you so much! 💜I am not sure exactly where you are at with theory, but I would definitely research youtube vids / articles / wikipedia on Functional Harmony, Roman Numeral Analysis, musical cadences, and modes. In my discord server I am also compiling a 'research' section of my favorite theory videos and there is a channel for questions. I am mostly self-taught through the internet, there are so many awesome people teaching! But it definitely helps to know what to search for.
