I tried this with a 60 luck 66 str build with a bleed infusion (BLUDSHAYYYYYYDS!!!!) and let me just say. No. No, the bleed still sucks. It really sucks. Just do a strength build.

Or a dex build! You only need 14 Str to 2H this weapon(and 21 str to 1H isn't too steep either), and the damage is actually pretty similar. Useful if you want better damage out of a straight sword/katana/etc to swap.

wagon Rouge got nerfed into the ground pretty shortly after shades became a thing. About the same time they trashed the higher damage curved swords. It does very little now sadly and the bleed damage was drastically reduced.

SPiked mace is not just only the best great hammer that brings the competition with Ledo's but it is also amazing at croud controll and its weapon art is very good at preventing backstabs. And sbove of that - IT. LOOKS. BRUTAL ASF. Just realize: if these spikes penetrate somebody, how much pain and damage it REALLY deals. True nightmare and world of agony.

Great Club is good too, but if your opponents don't panick-roll your R2 attacks (which consumes shitload of stamina) and you automatically do R1 follow up - you put yourself at risk to be backstabbed. But since on PC there are so many panick-rollers noobs, Great Club is still very strong choice. SO i would give GC the same high rating (A+) as Spiked Mace

Saint, I'd recommend you to try out the Great Club. It's R2 has insane tracking, deceptive speed and it true combos into a R1. A second R1 will work as a rollcatch if they roll to the side and - after doing about a thousand invasions with it at all level ranges - I'm pretty sure it ultra staggers (S T U N) in the same way as ultra greatswords, the only other explanation would be that people put down their controllers after the second hit. Very low weight as well, which helps when poise optimizing.

I personally really like Vordt's Hammer. Great style, fuckton of damage (Frostbite procs within 2-4 hits), AND if needed you can proc the Frostbite very quickly by resetting the effect with any fire attack (I use Fire Surge, since it doesn't require any stat and it's easy to hit).

Chronicler J Actually, I use the opposite: Longsword in the main hand and Vordt's in the offhand. This way I can have the R1-R1-rollcatch R2 from the Longsword, with the hyperarmor threat of Vordt's. Or I can 2h Vordt's and poise through ganks, or 2h the Longsword to pop open turtles.

I find the 1H greathammer moveset to be a parry death sentence, so that's usually a job for the fume or yhorms

OceanBox i agree (though the offhand moveset is slightly better than the mainhand). When I dual-wield, I mostly rely on my Longsword, but I use Vordt's to catch running attacks and the like. Against any parry tool, I mostly go 2h Vordt.

Honestly the spiked mace is probably the best dueling hammer in the game, the spin sweep WA can be used to catch anyone who tries to roll through your regular hits, and it is really good to just use the first hit of the WA as if it was a secondary R1, it may not be as powerful as a regular hit but it still has enough range to outrange most weapons, wraps around your whole body, is about twice as fast as any of your other hits, and it still does around 200 damage, and that is not something to laugh at

I wanted to use the Spiked Mace on my build once, but ended up fat-rolling. So, in my infinite wisdom, I loaded some nails into my wooden mallet for bleed AND equip load!

I've always liked the spiked mace. Sort of the logical progression of the nailed baseball bat, and with some pretty epic combo potential besides. Even without a luck build you can almost instantly proc bleed if you get the whole thing off while it's coated with carthus rouge.

In my experience the bleed buildup is never worth the investment. Either go weapon buff on a heavy gem strength build @ 66 strength on a decently high level or a dark/strength hybrid build with 30/30 int/faith with as much strength as you can afford, that‘s pretty much the way to go with the Spiked Mace

Spiked mace is rad because it's a bleed weapon, but it's not like most bleed weapons which have shit damage in exchange for bleed. It does good damage(which is good because bleed sucks lol), and then also has bleed as a bonus. And it has a WA true combo. Though as far as aux effects go, I did notice that spiked mace has huge poison buildup when infused poison with some luck investment. Not that you should actually make a poison build because it's a shitty gimmick, but invading at low levels I would sometimes poison people with a single combo. You mentioned it, and I do like using barbed straight sword with this on my character who mostly wears thorn armor. maximum pointiness

I like the great club because you can charge the R2 and space it wrong on purpose, then go straight into a ridiculously fast R1. I mean it's no straight sword, and you can't do it that often since you're just begging for backstabs if you do, but still. Uncharged R2 into R1 is still kind of fast, but eh.

morne's great hammer has the same extra poise health as ledo's and smough's. pretty sure its R1s do exactly the same poise damage too. and its weapon art has far more poise health

and yeah what you said at the end is exactly true. with morne's/ledo's/smough's you have so much poise health that you don't really need much vitality. just enough to actually hold the damn thing and then use light armor with the highest poise to weight ratio. it's the only way to really do a morne's GH build at ~120, to just put on yuria's legs/gloves/helm and actually leonhard's chestpiece is pretty good. with a wolf ring +3 you end up with enough poise to poise through an ultra greatsword's 2h R1s with your own R1s. the poise health for morne's GH is the same for 2h or 1h btw. but the 2h moveset deals more poise damage of course. with the points you save in vitality you can put them into endurance instead, or if you want to use ledo's too you could conceivably go 60 str and 30 fth but it's putting the rest of your stats in a pretty austere position lol. if you want to go even lighter you can just use cornyx's set for the bare minimum to poise through a greatsword's 2h R1s. of course morne's R2s and weapon art can poise through just about anything even with zero poise. the weapon art, even before the perseverance effect is applied, has like 150 poise health, which is a number that could only be broken by like multiple greathammer R2s hitting you at once. and then i'm not sure how much the perseverance adds but it's enough that in all my time playing with it i've never seen it broken. it *never* gets broken and it's a pretty strong attack for invasions, really. i was always wondering why i never saw you use it but i guess most of your builds are lower level. but yeah morne's can definitely be done at 120. 27 vigor gets the most hp per point, 50 str/30 fth, then put the rest into endurance.

Great vid. Btw, luck builds are great in invasions bc 1) you have access to damage (hollow), poison, and bleed. And in your words "there's no stat that can measure pressure". 2) hollow increases you're luck, and this is huge at lower levels. I run a lvl 61 luck build with an insane arsenal of weapons, and you become a monster. If y'all want the stats and shit, I'll show yuz.
