His best friend. His lover. Together they stood, gazing at the twisted visage of their former selves from another land, another time... the ensuing battle raged on for days, both sides showing the fatigue of battle but refusing to relent. The knight is blown away by the visage's mighty sorceries, seperated from his host. The knight struggles to get back on his feet, weary and mortally wounded from the fierce battle. As he raises his head fear freezes him in place, as the burning titan wraps one hand around the assassin's throat....and buries his coiled blade into her abdomen, tossing her to the side in a roar of triumph. Overcome by grief and wrath, the knight storms the titan, throwing his shield aside in place of a small token, a cloth cut from his host's garb. With the blessed talisman he cries to the sky, a crackling bolt of lightning forming in his hand. The titan gazes at the knight, his own hand crackling to life as they both throw a hail of pure sunlight at one another. The charred field bursts into a dome of light that rivals even the dying sun, and as the light fades, the crippled knight looms over the burning soul of cinder, now fading to nothing but ash. As the guardian of the dying flame fades away to nothing, the knight forces himself to lumber to his lover, collapsing beside her, his own light fading away. In his hand he conjurs the last bit of sunlight and gently presses the dull ember to her unmoving bosom. She rises up gasping for air, and looks around for her lover, only to find a tiny series of runes carved out in the pile of ash next to her, spelling out "praise be to the sun...let it rest." With a tear in her eye, she takes the guardian's sword, resting it in the pile of her lovers ashes and sets it ablaze, the quivering flame slowly enveloping her, burning her away until nothing remains... ....except the flame, And the lovers' talisman.

I like how the original overlayed here fills out the build to Gwyn's Theme. Basically every cover doesn't get the drama or the tension quite right there, it just doesn't feel apocalyptic enough. It does here, though.

I would really like to know what companies do neoclassical blackened power metal boss themes. I myself can only name a handful, and I am quite into the japanese doujin music scene. Arcsys, Falcom, maybe you can count Atlus and Koei tecmo too. Not many others come to mind. What kind of games do you play man? I want in)

Hmmmm... No. MGR's ost was closer to Melodic Metalcore, although I only excluded it from the list because MGR was the only game with a metal OST that Platinum made, and even then the demos were much better. I wish they'd make more though.

Sadly cover used here is not mine, and i believe there is no good metal cover made for Artorias' theme. Besides, his theme is really quiet, so I don't think it'll work. Edit: forgot about Utamaru's cover, it's good but not great imo. I'm just not a fan of breakdown-heavy music. I can do that one if you want though. Edit 2: found Ekstal's cover, digging through his stuff right now. I think either one of use will upload a mix of that soon, will be a somewhat of a goth-black track.
