Dark Souls Black Hydra Jump

An interesting observation someone pointed out in another comment section is that the hydra has a shell and the ability to jump out of the water. These are both traits of prey animals to avoid predator's. This implies that there is something in the water that EATS Hydras.

I can see the shell making that point, but being able to leap out of the water is not exclusive to prey, great white sharks can leap out to hunt seals, same thing with orcas.

The Black Hydra Is Larger and More Difficult than the one in darkroot garden also I think the way it moves as you enter its aggro region is a bit terryfying.

Black Hydra might be one of the most intimidating bosses in any DS game, in my opinion. You know it's there, but the quiet eerieness of the location and its sudden aggression are unnerving.

Ash lake is my favorite area by far. The first time I played this game I killed the hydra right away so I never knew he could jump. Then years later I played this area again and decided to just run past the hydra. My jaw dropped when I saw him jump a hundred feet in the air, spewing bombs in every direction. What makes this even more special is how weird and stingray-like his body is, kind of like storm king. I had killed the darkroot hyda multiple times but I had no idea what a hydra's body actually looked like. this game has some awesome moments for sure

Same opinion about it being my favourite area, more because it's the most similar area to some kind of beach to relax after blightown and the great hollow areas. I can see why Sigmeyer decided to die there.

@@randyk_18 I don't think Ash Lake is at all generic. The feeling of going back in time, all the implications Ash Lake puts forward for the world and lore, and also the amazing soundtrack coming in beautifully to frame this otherworldly location really makes this a stand out place to discover. Someone finding Ash Lake on their own for the first time would be astonished at what was inside of seemingly innocuous giant tree.

It is a bit more difficult than the darkroot basin hydra, well here the problem is hitting the head. Also I was a mage so had to use lock on feature which sucked at this boss.
