5:18 LOTR nerd here. The Eagles were part of a powerful ‘arch angel’s’ domain. The angels forbidden to interfere in any meaningful way, so sent representatives to intervene diplomatically. These were the 5 wizards, of which only Gandalf didn’t go rogue or abandon his mission. Also, Mordor had an airforce. Fellbeasts, bats, birds and in some drafts, small dragons. The Eagles were not able to safely fly into Mordor, where the air is poisoned, the sky black with volcanic soot and the weather a constant thunderstorm. Not without being attacked by the locals and risk losing the Ring.
@aud75932 ай бұрын
THANK you
@bloobiestАй бұрын
Pretty sure they had massive fucking dragons as well.
@alexanderharris5022Ай бұрын
@@bloobiest Melkor/Morgoth had dragons but I think Tolkien wrote that Sauron wasn’t as capable of controlling them as his master. In earlier drafts I do know there were dragons in Mordor but that Smaug was the only large and intelligent of his kind left, hence why Gandalf pushed for him to be destroyed. In the complete works however it’s stated that Smaug was the only dragon within reach of Sauron’s influence, and that Gandalf helped the dwarves on their quest with the hope of eliminating that possibility. Even then, it’s also stated that Sauron would have needed to strike an alliance with Smaug rather than outright dominate him. The only Dark Lord in Tolkien’s world who held dominion over dragons was Morgoth. He created them after all! Morgoth held absolute dominion over all things evil except Ungoliant. Even after his imprisonment/death his former subjects still worshiped him as a god.
@Carl_with_a_k_Ай бұрын
That still doesn’t explain why the eagles couldn’t fly BILBO and the dwarves somewhat closer to the lonely mountain. I understand the threat of Smaug, but at least bring them to the other side of Mirkwood. I’m sure even if they couldn’t fly over it they could’ve gone around it, which they only discounted because of how long it would take on foot.
@bloobiestАй бұрын
I read up a bit more on this. Mordor apparently has poisonous air higher up because of the smoke from the volcano. They also have extremely good archers and whatnot so it would be a huge risk to fly over Mordor. @@Carl_with_a_k_

Seeing this video made me so happy. I grew up seeing Jack’s videos. Eventually I got into fromsoftware’s games at the age of 19 3 years ago. So, seeing my favorite KZbinr play one of my favorite games while seeing how passionate he is with fromsoftware’s games, is such a special feeling. I cried at the end and then laughed at “boink” sound when Gwyn got parried, lol. Well, time to see Jack play DS3, the first fromsoftware game I played. It’s going to be another fun ride, and I hope to see the other games as well (and again with Bloodbourne and Elden Ring)!!!

I love watching stuff like this. I have never played a Dark Souls game or any FromSoftware game. But Berserk is my absolute favorite manga and anime of all time ('97 version not the movies on Netflix). And I love that it is heavily inspired by it as well. Great stuff Sean! We love it.

I know you may not see this comment, but when this video popped up on my feed I actually shouted at my screen. I am so beyond happy that you played this for the channel! The first time I ever experienced a game by FromSoft was when you played Bloodborne for the channel & I fell absolutely in love with the franchise. I don’t have the time or money to buy and play these games for myself, so watching playthroughs is really the only way I can experience them currently. And I was really hoping you might go back and play the Souls games for the channel (I understand if you never want to play DS2 though haha). But I just wanted to tell you that your playthroughs opened me up to a new franchise I may never would have known to look into otherwise. Thank you so much! And please, no matter what, please make content that makes you happy because your passion really does shine in your videos and it brings me such joy! Wishing you the best, Jack!

My jaw dropped and I literally yelled "oh my god!" and then had to explain to my boyfriend why this was such a big deal to me. I've been going through all the games now (Demon Souls, Dark Souls, DS2, Bloodborne, and I'm almost done with DS3) since I got burnt out on Elden Ring and completely fell in love with FromSoft. I even just got a "Praise the Sun!" Dark Souls keychain I put on my wallet, and I have three different FromSoft posters hanging in my living room and I'm about to get another one of Artorias. So glad there are other people out here freaking out about this video too, lol.

I’m not good at video games, and where fromsoft is notoriously hard, I know I wouldn’t get the same enjoyment playing that I do from watching. So I 100% agree that it’d be amazing if he played all of them for the channel (if he wanted!)

I feel like the reason why Dark Soul has that feeling and atmosphere that can't be replicated even in future installment is because of the situation that Hidetaka Miyazaki had so many creative control over this game it was his first project as a fantasy game after Demon Souls and was quite motivated to put his ideas into this game.

11:28 "Knowing what I know now, that was a child." This couldn't get more accurate. I know I'm only in my early twenties, but looking back at the decisions I made and all the consequences that came right after during my teenage years (when I was expected to be perfect at all times yet I kept failing at it and knowing now so much of the things that would've made my life easier back then), those bad times didn't happen because I was a failure. It was simply because those versions of me were just a child. And I know I'll have the same thoughts on my thirties when I'll look back at my twenties.
@dantecrossroad3 ай бұрын
I'm thirty-five, and I can totally confirm that you are right. You'll look back on your twenties, a time when you (generally) think you're wise and ready for the world, and realize just how childish you still were. It's not your fault, though. This world, for some ridiculous reason, expects us to be perfect the moment we start walking and talking. Just be sure to look back on yourself with kindness and compassion.
