Lore/theories trivia: 1:49:38 There's no canon answer to Sen's identity (Sen is only assumed to be either a person or a unique object, because his name in Japanese - セン/Sen - is written in katakana), but one theory is that Sen is the Nameless King, Gwyn's banished firstborn son. That's because Andre says that "Sen's Fortress is an old proving grounds built by the ancients Gods", and it's known that Gwyn's firstborn was a god of war. Another evidence is the presence of Serpent Men (serpents are imperfect dragons) in both Sen's Fortress and in Archdragon Peak (the location where the Nameless King went after aligning with the dragons). There's also a possible connection between the stacks of unused Silver Knight statues in Sen's Fortress (suggesting the place could have been a royal armory), and the fact Gwyn's firstborn trained Ornstein to be his first knight, who eventually became the leader of the Four Knights of Gwyn and presumably the rest of Gwyn's Silver Knights (suggesting Gwyn's firstborn originally commanded the Silver Knights, and in that position he would have controlled the royal armory). 4:21:26 The theory about the Ash Lake trees is that they are portals to parallel worlds (the known lore comes from the opening cinematic: "In the Age of Ancients, the world was unformed, shrouded by fog. A land of gray crags, archtrees, and everlasting dragons. Then there was fire"). Since Ash Lake seems to be a primordial place ( "the world was unformed"), that suggests the other worlds came from it, and that such connection is embodied by the archtrees (with the area working like a dimensional hub). 4:29:07 The Ancient Dragons ruled the world during the Age of Ancients, before the emergence of humanity or gods. Their stone scales gave them immortality (the Stone Dragon in Ash Lake could be either a descendant of the Ancient Dragons or one of them who survived). They opposed the fire brought by the Lords and lost the war against them (Seath the Scaleless sided with the Lords and revealed the dragons' weakness was lightning, which could peel apart their stone scales), and then began the Age of Fire. 4:58:00 The Four Kings were once humans chosen by Gwyn to rule New Londo (a lower vassal of Anon Londo), granting them a fragment of his Lord Soul (the source of Gwyn's sun and lightning powers, which he used to defeat the Ancient Dragons). When the First Flame began to fade out, New Londo turned into an Undead city. They fell into the Dark after a primordial serpent (Kaathe) offered them the Art of Lifedrain (the power to steal humanity from others, so they could preserve their humanity even as Undead). 5:01:19 The Abyss is a realm of Dark (created from the Dark Soul fragments not held by Humans) that can expand while slowly absorbing everything in its path. It is able to corrupt beings aligned with Fire (including the Gods), but not beings that are aligned or indifferent to it (like Humans). 5:35:25 The Artorias of the Abyss DLC happens in Oolacile, about 200 to 300 years before the events of Dark Souls. Oolacile was indeed slowly being swallowed by the Abyss at that point, and it no longer exists by the events of Dark Souls. 5:37:58 Artorias was one of the four knights of Gwyn, known for his skill with a greatsword (he's an homage to Guts, the protagonist of Berserk) and for his wolf companion Sif. When New Londo feel to the dark, he made a covenant with beasts of the Abyss that allowed him to traverse it, so he could defeat the Darkwraiths from the inside. Artorias tried to save Oolacile from being corrupted, but he and Sif were overrun by creatures of the Abyss. He then decided to sacrifice himself to save Sif, using his greatshield to raise a barrier around the wolf (seen at 5:53:52), but became corrupted after his defeat. 6:15:50 The Kiln of the First Flame is where the Lords first found their Lord Souls (which powers they used to defeat the dragons), and also where Gwyn sacrificed himself to the First Flame (which was fading) to extend the Age of Fire (otherwise, the rule of the gods that gained power from it would have ended, marking the start of the Age of Dark).

5:18 LOTR nerd here. The Eagles were part of a powerful ‘arch angel’s’ domain. The angels forbidden to interfere in any meaningful way, so sent representatives to intervene diplomatically. These were the 5 wizards, of which only Gandalf didn’t go rogue or abandon his mission. Also, Mordor had an airforce. Fellbeasts, bats, birds and in some drafts, small dragons. The Eagles were not able to safely fly into Mordor, where the air is poisoned, the sky black with volcanic soot and the weather a constant thunderstorm. Not without being attacked by the locals and risk losing the Ring.

@@bloobiest Melkor/Morgoth had dragons but I think Tolkien wrote that Sauron wasn’t as capable of controlling them as his master. In earlier drafts I do know there were dragons in Mordor but that Smaug was the only large and intelligent of his kind left, hence why Gandalf pushed for him to be destroyed. In the complete works however it’s stated that Smaug was the only dragon within reach of Sauron’s influence, and that Gandalf helped the dwarves on their quest with the hope of eliminating that possibility. Even then, it’s also stated that Sauron would have needed to strike an alliance with Smaug rather than outright dominate him. The only Dark Lord in Tolkien’s world who held dominion over dragons was Morgoth. He created them after all! Morgoth held absolute dominion over all things evil except Ungoliant. Even after his imprisonment/death his former subjects still worshiped him as a god.
@Carl_with_a_k_9 ай бұрын
That still doesn’t explain why the eagles couldn’t fly BILBO and the dwarves somewhat closer to the lonely mountain. I understand the threat of Smaug, but at least bring them to the other side of Mirkwood. I’m sure even if they couldn’t fly over it they could’ve gone around it, which they only discounted because of how long it would take on foot.
@bloobiest9 ай бұрын
I read up a bit more on this. Mordor apparently has poisonous air higher up because of the smoke from the volcano. They also have extremely good archers and whatnot so it would be a huge risk to fly over Mordor. @@Carl_with_a_k_

11:28 "Knowing what I know now, that was a child." This couldn't get more accurate. I know I'm only in my early twenties, but looking back at the decisions I made and all the consequences that came right after during my teenage years (when I was expected to be perfect at all times yet I kept failing at it and knowing now so much of the things that would've made my life easier back then), those bad times didn't happen because I was a failure. It was simply because those versions of me were just a child. And I know I'll have the same thoughts on my thirties when I'll look back at my twenties.
@dantecrossroad10 ай бұрын
I'm thirty-five, and I can totally confirm that you are right. You'll look back on your twenties, a time when you (generally) think you're wise and ready for the world, and realize just how childish you still were. It's not your fault, though. This world, for some ridiculous reason, expects us to be perfect the moment we start walking and talking. Just be sure to look back on yourself with kindness and compassion.

Hey Jack, just to answer your LOTR question (im a certified nerd btw) the reason why the eagles didnt just go to MT Doom to drop the ring off is literally because of 1 reason, they literally didnt want to. The only reason they rescued Frodo and Sam was because the leader of the eagles, Thorondor; liked gandalf and I believe owed him a favor(this part might be cap). You could also say that the Nazgul (screaming lizard dragons) wouldve lowkey tore them apart but the films showed otherwise
@LePezzy6610 ай бұрын

Yeah the Eagles of Middle Earth are basically demigods, if they got their talons on the One Ring they'd be immeasurably worse than Sauron@@LePezzy66
@Ithinkidroppedsomecheese10 ай бұрын
@@LePezzy66 maybe! I personally dont think so. The Ring takes your biggest strenghts/goals and twists it. Boromirs biggest strength was his duty to Gondor and her people. The ring took his insticts and turned it against the hobbits (Boromir thought they could use it as a weapon against sauron and his armies, and the ring abused this) SO in conclusion, the eagles dont want power, they dont want gold, or armies - the eagles just simply exist, and so the ring couldnt do much. Sauron would most likely barter with the eagles in exchange for their services in his war. I hope that helps (and if im wrong someone let me know!)
@shinigamiinochi10 ай бұрын
that was my thought. The whole point of the fellowship instead of just getting a full army to escort the ring was the necessity of secrecy. The quest succeeded largely because Sauron didn't know where Frodo and Sam were and was constantly distracted. I was always pretty sure them just storming Mordor on a bunch of huge eagles would just get them shot out of the sky long before they even reached Mount Doom.
