This is good for someone’s second playthrough. First time players should just go in blind and discover the game for themselves. It’s ok for your first build to be crappy while you throw points into everything, trying to figure out what weapons you like best. If anything, players just need a tutorial on how to interpret stat scaling on weapons and other item info. The first playthrough of Dark Souls is a journey of terrifying discovery.

Also, there is occasionally some weird skipping in the video (ironically some of it happens in Blighttown right as I mention how bad the framerate used to be) but that is just the result of several hours of non stop recording, the game itself is running beautifully and I havent experienced any skipping or drops in framerate whatsoever.

For the "this is sparta" guy you free there is an easier way. Just free him first. He shows up at camp and gives you a reward. Then remove your weapons so you don't accidently anger him, and then kick him off the edge to his death. Then immediately go to main menu for the item drop trick, and his loot will show up when you come back to game. His loot actually fell off the edge but by going to main menu via item drop trick when you start your game the loot will be sitting in the playable area instead of having fell off edge.

Love how straightforward your videos have been. I just started playing Remastered, which is my first time playing DS1. I got started into From's world first through Bloodborne, then I got DS3 because it was a used copy and an absolute steal at 14 bucks. I fell in love with DS3 even harder than how much I loved BB, and now I'm finally able to live through the first adventure and get that street cred. I did a blind run to start with, just screwing around and having fun with my Thief (where I found out just how easy and broken the parrying system is) and killing all of the NPCs I met (because why not right lol) Anyway, now I'm going for an actual build and doing some research before I venture into the unknown and your videos have helped greatly in this regard. For instance, I could not find a way to sneak past the dragon on the bridge that drops the drake sword before you told me how. I even got a sniping spot and shot him in the head about 60 times before I conceded that the game was going to make him heal himself faster than I could damage him. But now I can get past him and it's all thanks to you! So thanks! I'm also looking forward to trying out those suicide runs you showed to get some sweet early game gear.

Another trick to cheese the guy and get the heavy ring is... walk down the steps till your head is a few inches below the floor(this is the moment he will notice you) turn back and go to the floor you just unlocked. He will follow slowly so wait on the wood next to the steps(his action limit being the steps). Slowly walk him outside. Once he attacks he will slowly walk backwards regardless of where you are or what you do till you step back inside(most he'll do is block). Let him get across the room and repeat. Recommended bow and arrow(cheep and easy) it'll take longer but run less risk of being hit, or bombs.

My (NG+) build is: • Dark Grain Ring • Havel’s Ring • Mask of Child • Gold hemmed arms, legs and robe. • Black Knight Shield • Black Knight Sword • Pyromancy w/ Power Within If I you have enough equip load, you can get rid of havel’s ring and use coranthy ring. If you don’t use power within, you can boost stamina recovery with Green Blossom as a substitute. Generally, I shield block until I have an opening, quickly swap to 2h my sword, slash, then swap back to shield and block. This doesn’t work well against bosses, thus the dark grain ring.

You can cheese havel from the undead perish bonfire with a long sword by baiting him to his door in darkroot basin and hitting once and getting back. rinse and repeat.
@ryanschultz4119 Жыл бұрын
Did you know you can defeat Havel with fall damage quite easily..? Wait for him on the stairs. And right before he attacks simply roll off the stairs. Which damages you very little, and hurts Havel significantly. Run up the stairs again, repeat 2-3 more times, and goodbye Havel!👍 I would highly recommend a Faith/Strength build for new players. Referred to by some as the Cleric Knight. It allows you to obtain the Lightening Spear very early on. While maintaining a strong melee. It also gives you the option to add Ascended Pyromancies the 2nd half of your playthrough. And despite some people discouraging players not to rely on it. Getting the Drake Sword by shooting arrows at the Hellkite Dragon's tail below the Sunlight alter. Helps new players by having a powerful weapon early on. While they are learning the game. With minimal investment, and keeps your equip load low.👌👍

The first point is a little inaccurate. You say that using a greatsword is only suitable for high strength and to ignore Dex. However if you are using the Claymore for example, its scales with Strength and Dex so having points into each of those to avoid the soft caps can be very powerful. Check the scaling of each weapon you want to use as some might not be a direct strength vs Dex choice.

Lautrec only kills the firekeeper after the second bell is rung. You can keep him alive for a little longer and get his help with the Gaping Dragon too, if you want EDIT: Wait, what? Lautrec kills the keeper if you get the third firekeeper soul? Huh.... Speaking of that soul, when you talked about good early shields, there is a bandit's shield on the hellkite drake bridge, shortly before the Red Tearstone Ring which you can also immediately collect. That is not only a really good early shield but ALSO it completely blocks out poison/toxic, which can make dealing with the blowdarters much safer

Don’t waste your time with the drake sword. Farm the drake by luring it into killing all the hollowed on the bridge and run to the bonfire, repeat. Then get your strength to lvl 32, dex at 18. Then kill the black knight just before the boar for his greatsword. If you don’t want to use so much on strength, you can take your strength to lvl 24 and get the black knight sword from the black knight in the undead burg. The stats are basically the same, your heavy and lunging attacks don’t do as much, but eh. You can also get a twinkling titanite to upgrade your sword from the crystal lizard, hidden under a barrel just before the Taurus demon.
@TheGhostInitiative3 жыл бұрын
Kinda missing the point of the drake sword. It’s just a low requirement weapon anyone can use that hits really hard early on. Not meant to pull you through the whole game. Black knight greatsword is very strong but it’s a full fledged strength weapon with high requirements so it’s not a replacement for an accessible, low req weapon like the drake sword that fits any build at that point in the game. They just serve different purposes so it’s comparing apples to oranges. Not to mention the black knight weapons only have a 20% chance to drop so you can’t really plan on using a specific one. If you know you’re going for a strength build and you manage to get the drop then yes, this method works.
@nimrodsson40293 жыл бұрын
@@TheGhostInitiative I've gottten at least 2 of them dropped for me for every playthrough and if you farm the drake on the bridge, you can get enough to use the black knight weapons easily. plus, you can upgrade them with twinkling titanite that is basically handed to you. Just trying to give a better alternative to new players, not trying to cause a debate. either way tho, if you get the gargoyle halberd, I'm jealous. I rarely get that in my playthru's.
I like it too but it’s just starting to suck. So I switched to zweihander then upgraded it to a different form of it. It’s now like 240 damage. It’s slow but I like it and prefer it more than the drake sword. I am level thirty something

this might be off-topic but how do i level? like, let's say im doing a dex build, and i get the min req for my weapon of choice, and now, what? i know leveling dex increases dex weapon damage, but when do i put levels into dex? and when i do i put levels into vit or end? how do i make sure i have enough end and vit by the end of the game? for example, dex weapons are really fast, which means of course if i get the chance just chain attacks as much as i can, but that's not possible without enough end and DLC bosses do insane damage, if i don't have enough vit, i might get one-shotted also, if i put too much levels into vit or end, i might not do enough damage to beat a boss with a lot of health(meaning the fight takes longer, the longer the fight is, the more mistakes i make)

Basically when you start a new character you're starting weapon is crap for example the pyromancer you start with the fire ax is important to get your hands on the battle axe and what's great the first area you go to after you get out of the Undead Asylum has enemies with the battle-axe and if you kill them enough time they will eventually drop one

To be fair, you don't even actually need to kill taurus demon; if you have the master key, you can just sprint to Undead Parish via Valley of Drakes and Darkroot.

Dark Souls is basically a card game where we don’t play with cards themselves, but the actual card artwork creatures and lore... it’s an experience. 💜

Let's be honest, an actual Dark Souls card game would be so damn legit. I wonder why there hasn't been one made yet, I know there's a board game but no card games.

Is it not well known that you can cheese Havel through the door on the forest side where the Hydra is? You just have to knock on the door and hit him once and roll away before he hits back definitely the easiest way that I found

You can just have havel follow you a little up the steps, you jump off and take a small amount of dmg, he follows and take a lot of damage. Do it 5 or so times and hes dead.

How do you get 10 estus flasks? I only get 10 when stopping at the firelink shrine bonfire. Is there a way to get 10 on all bonfires?
@TheGhostInitiative3 жыл бұрын
Pop 2 humanity, use one to reverse hollowing at the bonfire, then use the other to kindle. Each kindle gives 5 more estus, but it caps at 10 until you get something called the rite of kindling later in the game. With that you can actually kindle to 20 estus. You have to kindle every bonfire if you want extra estus at all of them though so I usually only kindle at challenging areas.

When I freed him and killed the gargoyles I came back to firelink shrine, he hasn't shown up, where is he?
@keulron2290 Жыл бұрын
So I freed Lautrec and then attacked him. He’s killed me twice now, but one source I’m seeing claims that he will be stuck in the cell until he dies or I get absolution. Is this accurate? And if not, how can I kill this character before he kills the Fire Keeper?
@TheGhostInitiative Жыл бұрын
I believe he will stay in that cell, yes, but only until you trigger him killing the firekeeper. You can’t prevent it by leaving him aggressive in the cell. The trigger for him killing her is either ringing both bells of awakening in undead parish and blighttown, or picking up the firekeeper souls in both of those locations, whichever happens first. So, you have until then to kill him which means you can just keep trying right now (he goes down quick if you learn how to parry him, he doesn’t fast roll so he leaves himself open to backstabs when he rolls, or you can lure him down to the bottom of the stairs, run back up, plunge attack, and repeat until dead). You can also kill the gargoyles on the roof, which unlocks access to absolution. Absolving sins *might* make him move straight to firelink but I’m not sure. If it does then you can kick him off the cliff there, nice and easy. It costs a fair amount of souls though so I would instead recommend just spending those to get your weapon upgraded to +5. He should die pretty fast if your weapon is upgraded. You can buy titanite shards from the blacksmith nearby for like 800(?) souls each, or farm them from enemies in undead parish.
