Awesome! It was shot in swedish lapland, 200km north of the polar circle, at the border to norway. have been there 3 weeks this summer for hiking and camping, enjoyed the landscape, reindeers and blueberries and saw nordic lights, one of the most beautiful places i've ever seen. if you want to go there too: take the train from stockholm to abisko, ca. 19h of a train ride and you are in the real wilderness of sweden. it's so nice to see these pictures combined with this awesome piece of music! love it!

My interpretation of the video: The beginning shows the moon or some planet about to come crashing into earth, the fires at the beginning represent the mass hysteria of the current age. Stanne, the girl and the older man and woman drive away. When Stanne drops them off, Stanne and the girl represent hope, the older man and the woman represent hope lost. There is no hope for this generation and forward momentum means getting closer and closer to humanity's demise. Kind of eerie considering the way the world is going right now...
@imreantalfy68176 жыл бұрын
Great to find another one caring about the video. I think you are pretty close, but could it be that Stanne wants to save the elder people as well but they decide to sacrifice themselves to give the newer generation more chance to carry on. So the demise would be caring for all at any point, but to move on we need to focus our ressources on a specific group of people
@lazyshoggy6 жыл бұрын
I see this more like an allegory of the current situation of many people. The front page of the little red book says "migration flight". Seems to me that they just want to avoid the troubles of the beginning of the video, they are searching for a better life, even if it's hard for them to flee from their homeland. Definitively too hard for the old generation, though. Interesting to see that everybody have his own interpretation.
@Shyvorix6 жыл бұрын
My interpretation is that the moon could be either something seen as an impending apocalypse (i.e. crashing down), or, has become close enough to easily inhabit, but is a very difficult journey to do so and very daring almost. The earth itself could be in shambles as presumed by the introduction. Stanne and the little girl are seen here riding with an older female and much older male, presumably themselves but older. As they drive along, the older pair are more hesitant to continue, whether it's because they are uncertain of the future, are hoping for an alternative, or are simply scared of the daring journey Stanne and, presumably his daughter, wish to take, they themselves representing hope and daring courage, something their older counterparts couldn't muster, and are subsequently left behind to simply bask and imagine a better world below the moon. Stanne and (let's just say his daughter) continue onward, despite their worries, and move nearby to the ship to where they will soon perhaps either be by themselves, or join with others who also dare journey on ahead. I feel this representing a more personal story, and that sometimes we must set aside our fears, doubts, and worries, and continue on with our momentum, and continue going forward no matter what we think or do. This could be reinforced by them leaving their older selves behind, and succeed where their 'alternative future' selves failed. Verses such as "I squint my eyes - As if to make my sight extend - A little further" and "In fear of true deception - Our lives are being brought-back - Brought back down" along with the chorus only seem to solidify this (to me at least), basically translating into things such as "I squint and try to look ahead, to see if I can observe a future" or "For fear of being deceived or being lied to, we stay behind where we are more comfortable, even if it is the worst option." while the chorus basically speaks "We must not regret what we are going to do, and as we walk ahead, we must leave behind our flawed selves, and hope for the better as we move forward, and move forward no matter what."

When our future is at risk, with mass hysteria and fear, to move forward we may need to come up with new ideas for the betterment of everyone, which could mean making sacrifices, such as letting go of old ideas and the past holding us back, as hard as that can be. We must keep looking forward, to a brighter future. This video hits hard in so many ways and coupled with such an incredibly emotional song, it is so beautiful. This is what metal is all about. 🖤

I've been a fan of Dark Tranquility since I first heard "A bolt of blazing gold" in the early 1990s (one of the first songs to blow my mind from the then new and thriving Gothenburg death metal scene). These guys have never strayed from the sound that originally hooked so many of us on their brand of metal over 20 years ago. While other bands have (d)evolved, these guys have continued to display a level of integrity seldom found in music (or anything else) today. For what it's worth, if any of you guys in the band are reading this... thank you.

That is an actual fact, not just a "fan opinion". I've kept my ears on the SMDM scene for 25 years now, and DT (or 'dt', as in their logo) have the most sturdy, solid discography of them all. No albums to be ashamed of, unlike with other bands (I won't call them out, but they know what albums are to be ashamed of). Other bands may have done better individual albums, but overall, dt stand ever reliable.

I'm hoping it's because the short film storyline was about to get expensive. Hopefully the album version!

Unusual video, isn't it? I love it, it's kind of intriguing and with an open end, and the song itself is great. DT have reached a point of maturity in their music and that's just fine for me, there's no need to explore and evolve forever and ever. I'm sure the new album will be a blast.

All those new IF fans saying going hypster is "evolving" should listen to this and bow down in shame. DT is the only surviving memeber of the Gothemburg sound and one that lives up to its legendary status. PS the video is a masterpiece, got me in the feels a couple of times pretty hard. Great stuff alltogether.

Don't forget At The Gates they too still delivers :)

I'd argue that Soilwork is still doing very well, too. They've been up and down over the years, but The Ride Majestic is SOLID. Seconding At the Gates, too.

So true. I stayed with IF for a long fucking time, but nah they're done. Thankfully DT are still amazing.
