After a few days of listening, it seems that Insomnium has created somekind of a Carelian masterpiece. Where Amorphis and others have succesfully kept our Kalevala alive and turned the old storys and poems into music, Insomnium has now turned up with an epic that - at least to me - describes North Carelia like nothing before. The sadness, the melodies, riffs like our bedrock, agony and misery all combined with a glimpse of joy and mountainfull of resilience. Added with our national scenery from Ukko - Koli and some references to old Sentenced, I felt like home immediately. Like my wife said to me after the first listening; " One can see Finnish man really liking a song when he listens to song quietly with a small smile in his face and eventually starts to nod his head with the rythm of music."

this song reminds us that our time here is short and harsh, to be in this world is hard, everyone has had battles and scars echoing a hard life (perfect life doesn’t exist it’s a illusion) and we have to make the best of it: we have to let yourselves truly love and be loved! We humans are not perfect and we will always disappoint someone someday, but we have to manage how to support each other with care, love, patient, grace, affection, mercy, empathy, strength, compassion, sympathy, hope and understanding how it is to be in the other person’s condition 🙏🏻🙏🏻💜💜 sending love to you all 🙏🏻🙏🏻

As a die hard Insomnium fan, i was beside myself when this album dropped. This was the first song i heard and kill me for saying, I wasnt captured as i was by their older stuff. But something kept drawing me back, becoming my go to song to cheers me up in time.. I didnt know why. Today after listening to it for the 100th odd time i actually read the lyrics(I can make out some but i never focus on it too hard as the music is just too captivating).. and after reading it realized it portrays the last two years of my life as 2 years ago i lost the love of my life. She had bigger dreams and i had to stay behind, feeling dread and sadness develop to the likes of which i never thought possible.. We loved each other, but i always ended up disappointing her one way or the other.. Two years on and i still smell her hair and see her when i wake up.. I feel i have indeed become an old man with a heart like a grave.. And my soul blackened with time.. And i sometimes wonder if she remembers the times before it all went to shit.. i wonder

Unfortunately this "masterpiece" ist stolen from aika multaa muistot by Sentenced...
@bananatoaster21845 жыл бұрын
@@berlinmetal The only similarity that I could find between these two songs is their intros. Insomnium could've though of the melody themselves or they might have taken inspiration from Sentenced. Nonetheless, it's only a few seconds after which the songs go in entirely different directions. I'd hardly call that stealing, although you're allowed to consider it scummy. I think it's rather clear that this isn't a ripoff of "Aika kultaa muistot"...

New fan from New Zealand, massive sentenced vibes on this one - and that’s a compliment. Jani brought me to this band with valediction and while I can definitely hear Aika Multaa Muistot (Everything Is Nothing) influences, it’s new, fresh and powerful. Love this. Thanks for bringing back fond memories of a great band, look forward to the album! It’s gonna be killer!

After some thinking, I come up with the theory: The video shows the grief after the man's wife died. He doesn't want to live without her, so he decides to commit not living himself. The bottle he is holding may be some kind of a poison that he drinks afterwards. He takes his wife's body to the lake as maybe that was some of his promise to her, that when she dies he will put her body in the lake. But before he does that, he drinks the poison and lets the water take him too. He is also seen crafting the cross which probably was for his daughter and his grandson, so that when the couple dies, the children should put the cross in memory of them (as the grandson may not have enough skills to create such thing). The kid was running frantically because maybe the grandpa wrote their both names on the cross and not only his wife's. He is also writing something in the journal, maybe that was his farewell letter.
