The Lost River of the Pharaohs is literally THE SAME ride from Cameron Roubique 's KILL RIVER 3, the concluding entry of his AMAZING slasher trilogy and I am shook watching this. It IS the book, the very thing I'd pictured in my imagination, come to life. I knew the water parks from his novels were based upon real locations but somehow it'd slipped my attention that this particular attraction actually existed.

@@joep_films Sorry to keep commenting this, but when I see an attraction or a ride with a tunnel or area that is totally dark, it scares me out of my wits, and it makes me a scaredy-cat. I have a visual impairment, and it causes me to have a fear of total darkness. Yours truly, Margaret Garnto.

That plaster the ride is lined with seems a lot cooler than the standard tubing most rides use. Also the fact that the rides use the local terrain is neat.

We definitely need to have more of these dark water park rides at water parks around the U.S, especially Walt Disney World Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

My theory as to why the big two haven't done it is capacity reasons, you can only send one raft down at a time, and a slow section like that would DESTROY the throughput of the ride, which is something that's already an issue with waterslides to begin with. So it would only make things worse, remember that Disney and Universal are more about getting as many people through as possible so something like these would probably hurt it quite badly.

Brings back fond childhood memories. These rides are nearly 30 years old. Used to go to waterworld all the time as a child in the early 90s. Moved from Colorado years and years ago. Always wondered if these were still there. Thanks for the blaast from the past.

Is the T Rex head supposed to have stuff dangling off his mouth? I’m not sure if his skin is peeling or if it’s meant to look like he ate the tube ahead of you.

@@ztslovebird I think the skin is just in bad shape. I remember distinctly the summer they it in (the raptors in the second scene were new additions that summer as well. This was prolly 10+ years ago at this point. I too relocated). Hopefully they’ll be able to give the ride an update here soon and touch it up soon! Though, ngl I kind of like your idea. A deflated tube shred would be a good cover up in the meantime.

The better version of Jurassic Jungle Boat Ride. Also damn, those slides are FAST, better than any White Water Rapids ride I've seen or ridden, and actually closer to the experience they're actually trying to mimic lol.

I agree - it is criminal that Universal doesn't have something like this... I get that Disney is more interested in increasing prices than putting in great rides, but Universal is all about this type of thing

I don’t know, according to some other park visitors there is nothing to prevent people from jumping out of the water and touching the animatronics and sets, maybe the big parks are wary of this type of issue?

Sure is! These rides look the same as they did when I was a kid. I can tell you that the Pterodactyl not flapping its wings and the boulder not rolling down that ledge toward the raft were always sketchy and hardly ever worked, even when the ride was new. Also, the water level going into the pyramid is low enough that if you have enough weight in your raft, you sometimes have to scooch yourself along. All part of the fun, IMO.
