You are so fucking fabulous. Thank you. My APC is now mapped. Note to others watching that may be using the newest version of Logic: Don't be intimidated by the fact that this tutorial was done in 9. It works pretty much the exact same way except that Control Surfaces is located right under the Logic Pro X dropdown menu.

Thank you for three great videos, Elias. I'm using LPX 10.6, but everything you cover is exactly the same, apart from small changes to the GUI. You're exactly right about assignments that stop working! I really thought I was going mad, or missing something. Brilliant work! There is one thing I'd point out: saving duplicates of Assignments like Play, Stop etc will save you from nothing if the entire file gets corrupted. I've had this happen when deleting a Mode. It's all stored in this file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.logic.pro.cs, and I save a fresh version on another drive every time I make significant changes to the Case

Just ran through these three videos, been a great help. One thing I noticed though is the assignment you used for the mute and solo functions doesn't seem all that great. I managed to get individual tracks working on each their solo and mute buttons by assigning them in each of the fader banks. I used the activator buttons as the mute buttons and the solo buttons as the solo command. Each button on the APC actually send 2 midi notes to logic (one for on and one for off).

I think I did the same as you - it may be the step that where you copy and paste the controller assignments into the no zone section. I ended up deleting the assignments out of the APC zone and it seemed to do the trick. Basically it seems that you are assigning the toggle command twice and when you press the button it is basically the same as pressing it twice...

Do you know is there any way to assign the 'record arm' buttons on the APC to the relevant channel's 'Record Arm' function in logic. Doesn't seem to pick it up in learn mode...
@shuggy100112 жыл бұрын
So to set each track's mute button, I went into learn mode, hit mute on channel 1(logic), then the activator button on the channel 1(APC). This assigned the mute ON function. I then clicked the mute button on channel one(logic) again, then the activator button on channel one (APC). This basically sets the button to toggle mute on that channel. I just repeated this process then across all the remainder channels and it seems to work great.

I've got a problem....I put on the same buttons as you for the mixer, hyper-editor etc. but whenever I press the particular button the particular window just shows up for about a second....could you help me?

Try selecting "Toggle" where it defaults to "Fader" in Learn Mode?

This is my kind of tutorial (pt 1 & 2 included). Straight to the point, VERY clear, no over-explaining yet not missing important details and finally - no boring jokes or memes, thank you for leaving that to professional comedians. Aaand no triple 4K cameras, just doing it on the fly with a phone. 👏

Hi there man!! Awesome tutorial!! Question: I have the APC40, which is practically the same as your APC20, except with more buttons. I made it work following your instructions (thanks to that!) but the lights on my pads and knobs does not light up. They work but without any lights. Any thoughts? New gear and fully working on Ableton Live. Thanks again!

I have the APC40 also, either you have a faulty unit or maybe the midi settings are not correctly set-up. I presume you've tried reinstalling the software and setting up the APC again?. Does the APC functions still work or the software recognise the functions even if the buttons don't lit up?. Have you tried a different usb cable as I had this before and it worked or don't plug in any usb cable into the APC40 and only leave the power cable and put it on, the APC 40 after 3-5min should go into a demo mode and all lights will highlight. If neither of these work, than something may have burnt inside the unit and you need a replacement.
