ok, loved it, it was great, but i just hate how everyone portrays yellow diamond as so mean to pink. like, yellow diamond might have lost her temper quite a few times but she didnt hate pink, she really missed her and wanted her back, but she knew she couldnt have her back. yellow is strict and cold but she probably held back just a little with pink, you know, she would only lose her temper when pink REALLY messed up or did something she REALLY wasn't supposed to do. i just want more people to notice that. yellow truly cared for pink and would never call her a mistake (at least not to her face)

Samantha DeGroot I genuinely don’t think Yellow would even think of Pink as a mistake, I mean Yellow herself told Steven that Pink always knew how to make her laugh which means they had a good relationship or a decent one. Yellow prolly just wanted what was best for her as you can only see what White did to those that didn’t fit in her perfect image, they all cared for her in their own ways and Yellow did eventually give in in giving Pink her own colony so maybe Yellow had a small soft spot for her not as big a soft spot as she has for Blue or as huge a soft spot as Blue had for Pink but maybe a tiny one. Though of course that doesn’t mean she’s excused from all the abuse she, Blue, and White inflicted upon Pink though.

In a way, she’s kinda like in the same boat as Steven. Yellow is pearl, sometimes distant but trying to make Steven/pink but with pink yellow is more stern. Blue is amethyst, really depressed over everything that has happened, but amethyst shows more emotion, and white is garnet, who tries to hide her emotions to be the strong leader everyone wants her to be.

Actually it does make sense. Pink Diamond's being made not perfect by White Diamond has caused that not perfectness to spread among other Gems that have come in contact with Pink Diamond and her as Rose. The Gems have evolved into more of a true life form through being in contact with Pink Diamond/Rose than they would've become if White Diamond had not created Pink Diamond that way.

Oh my goodness - I admit this was a lot better than I expected it to be; for some reason I wasn't expecting that to hit me as hard as it did! (Not meant to be anything against you specifically - just a lot of Steven universe fan content I've seen recently hasn't been as in-depth or hard-hitting as this.) The ending is amazing, whether or not it's actually canon-compliant. It says a ton about Gems and Gem society, and it's a really fascinating take on White Diamond, that being older than Blue and Yellow she can see beyond the current state of the Gem empire and see that the Gems as they are now (and were then) were missing something crucial. The idea that she, the epitome of Homeworld and Gem society, the ideal Gem, could conceive of that thought and then a plan to change and fix it and thus strengthen the Gem race as a whole is really interesting! I've seen a lot of takes on White Diamond, but I don't think I've ever seen one quite like your interpretation, and it's a really intriguing idea that I may have to play with on my own time. The moral, the last line - "Real life isn't perfect" - that hit me /so/ hard you wouldn't believe. Gem society is all about perfection and fitting in, but real life, organic life, doesn't work like that - something always has to give. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I love this so much! Thank you!
