After our latest adventure it's time for our party to rest and recover at the Hamlet as we conclude the Showcase for Darkest Dungeon: The Board Game created by Nick Niotis, Argyris Poungouras with art by Christopher Bourassa and published by Mythic Games! In this video I'll go over the Hamlet Phase. I hope this entire series helps you hit the ground running when your game arrives or helps you make an informed decision on it in the future. If you enjoyed the video series, be sure to leave a like and keep on rolling solo! FYIs: #1. When the Vestal performed her buff in the Hamlet it would provide all characters with the buff. I just missed adding a stack for each of the other heroes while filming. #2. As a good reminder when gaining a virtue, it's wise to flip over the stress token to remind you that you're on the final half of dying from stress. A virtue is good but it comes at a price! #3. Conditions (ex. blight) are removed when you go to the Hamlet. Intro 0:00 Overview 0:50 Hamlet Phase (Setup) 1:19 Hamlet Phase Overview 4:25 Hamlet Phase Gameplay 15:08 Conclusion 21:50 Patreon Rolling Solo Producers 23:54 "Ruin has come to our family. In this adaptation of Red Hook’s acclaimed Darkest Dungeon video game, you strive to cleanse a manor and its surroundings of all manner of evil: hordes of the undead, foul beasts and eldritch abominations... And, finally, either at death’s door or at your wit’s end, you will have to uproot evil itself from the darkest dungeon. Darkest Dungeon is a fully cooperative dungeon crawl game in which players take on the role of adventurers. Although brave and determined, adventurers are only human! They are prone to the madness and pain the twisted dwellers of the dungeons will inflict upon them. Death can occur, but is not the worst fate: heroes can be driven mad and beyond help! The game is played in campaigns of 11 missions. To reach the Darkest Dungeon itself, players will undertake 3 missions per threat level and vanquish the boss. Then, they will be strong enough and face the horrors of the Darkest Dungeon! They may emerge victorious... if they dispatch the source of evil that plagues the land. For each hero, select 3 skills out of 7 before heading into your mission (and level the heroes up to gain access to more skills). In each room, pick the most suitable stance to best resolve the conflict! Then, on each turn, a player chooses two of the available actions of moving, interacting with the environment, changing their stance or using a skill (if eligible for their current stance). Triumph over encounters, resist rampant madness and emerge victorious before throwing yourself into another battle. Between missions, spend your time in the hamlet, visiting various buildings to find relief from the physical and mental trauma you’ve just endured. Restore the hamlet to its former glory and it will reward you and help you to fulfill the ultimate goal." *Media Inquiries: rollingsologamer@**gmail.com* *Want to support the channel? The container ship carrying my copy of DD bound for the EU moored today. Can't wait to play, your videos really re-ignited my fire for this game!

Awesome! Glad to hear that and hope you have a lot of fun exploring all that the game has to offer. There's even more beyond this. This is just a taste!

awesome, thanks for the vid. would love to see another quest or something, just a normal dungeon playthrough since the explanations and such have been done in the other vids. appreciate the efforts man

I will likely revisit this again in the future! 😄

Awesome! Again, my thanks for causing my hype to hit astronomic levels with another in depth run through, I feel prepared to face the darkness below come madness or injury, hell or high water. And the mere mention of the caretaker already has me seething, I just know he's going to sit his smug butt down in a place I need to use! *shakes fist*! Keep up the great work RS!

The Hellion can at least use her skill to knock him off! There may be other ways as well 😉

Great video as usual! Would be nice to see more DD in the future. :)

This is one I would revisit. 😏

All heroes should have a 3 stack buff from the vestal's chanting (otherwise the buff would have "self" near it). Also when gaining a virtue it's like you are on the red side of the stress meter. I'd flip the stress meter over as a reminder for this (it flips back to white when reaching the next hamlet phase and then the virtue turns into a positive quirk).
@RollingSolo2 жыл бұрын
100% ! I ddin't update all the other characters but understood it the same way you did for the Vestal's buff. Flipping over the stress token would be the best thing to do when gaining a Virtue as a reminder. Agreed! I've added these to the pinned comment. Cheers!

That was really interesting, the combat - especially what the enemies do - is in my mind quite similar to Sword and Sorcery. Thanks for the showcase, now i wanna buy it (in hopes that the build-up and tear-down is not as timeconsuming as Gloomhaven and my wife plays it with me).

Happy to know it clicked for you! It’s sticking around for me. 😄

Thanks for the showcase! Looking forward to this one hitting the table. Did you continue this campaign off camera? If so, how did it go? I would love to see a boss fight video at some point.

I’d like to revisit this in the future and cover a boss fight next. I like what you’re thinking!

Thanks for this DD series. As a backer, who wasn't entirely sure if I wanted to keep this game, your series made me just want to keep it and dive right into it. Great miniseries, showcasing the major parts and the flow of the game + rules. Question though - I just read the pdf of the manual and page 32 says that upon returning to the Hamlet, you remove all the conditions from your party, torch up to 5 etc. Yet you used provisions to heal Hellion's blight. Should that not be removed automatically?

Also - YES FOR BOSSFIGHT, PLEASE! :-)

Hey Tom! I actually wondered about that and must have missed that part about removing conditions. I remember in the prototype that all conditions were removed too but here I must have glazed over that. Good eye! A boss battle is something I’d like to do in the future with this one. Thanks for letting me know!

I was hoping to have Darkest Dungeon last week, but my copy is one of those held up in a second container heading to the UK, so after getting a delivery notification I suddenly got a email telling me it won't arrive until the end of November :(

Loved these videos and your style. Can I ask a question? I'm just playing my first game. My first imminent threat is the collector. My first quest is Scout Ahead. My very thirst room I revealed was a lair. I flipped a room card and it was 12- Collector Room Boss. The rules state I'm not supposed to face the boss until I have completed 2 quests. Should this room have been removed from the deck or am I'm just really unlucky. I'm thinking I should run away?

Check both sides of the bone collector. It likely mentions to take that card/tile out. Thanks for the kinds word and watching!

Hey there! I have a question can we leave the Dungeon, Quest 1 let's say, after completing a couple of rooms and visit the Hamlet and then comeback to the same quest and continue the exploration? Because that's what I gathered from page 14 from the rulebook in the "Leaving the Dungeon" section.
@RollingSolo2 жыл бұрын
You can leave the dungeon anytime you wish as long as you follow the rules in that section around it. It’s fuzzy off hand if you return to the same dungeon layout or not. Might need to double check myself haha
@davidgalopim68792 жыл бұрын
@@RollingSolo Yeah I was a bit confused myself, I asked as well on BoardGameGeek and people told me that you can leave the Dungeon/quest during the exploration but if you do that Quest is automatically completed (not necesseraly achieved, you might not get the XP if the goal wasn't reached) and after visiting the Hemlet you start the following Quest . I didn't find the Rulebook very clear to be honest

I have some question, If we have already have 3 negative quirk and will get another one from affliction effect when return to hamlet... is the character die? or they still alive ?

Would the stun charm stack with the Vestal's stun-causing skill? If so, that would be broken O.o
@Neakco2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you have an answer to this question but the guild says "upgrade a level 1 hero card" if we can only level up a lvl 1 character than how do we get to level 3?
@RollingSolo2 жыл бұрын
I might need to head to the rulebook for that one. Not sure off the top of the head.

Thanks for The showcase Mr. Solo! Have you played The game enough, to give a review of it, in some form or style that fits your Channel? Im seeing a few youtubers unboxing The game, but no one have given a review or anything yet. It feels weird, since its such a big game/kickstarter.

I've been continuing my play off camera and I can say I'm very impressed. It's up there with Solomon Kane. SK and DD are their two best solo projects to date easily. The game moves smoothly and once you know the icons (which isn't hard thanks to the handy reference cards)...took me one battle and I was rolling. You'll learn something new here and there along the way too which is nice and it spices things up. The boss battles are quite entertaining and can be quite stressful as the outcome has weight! I like that the game is broken over four acts. You can really dig into the campaign and benig able to save easily when needed is a big time plus too. Overall, I'm happy I backed it! Knowing there is more to come is also a good thing!
