John's clean vocals are absolutely amazing! I also love his screams and scream growls in general but.....IMHO this is THE BEST Darkest hour's album...

Listen. John can sing. He has a pretty decent singing voice, that i personally enjoy. The band isn't any less heavy. I love every album they've put out. Including this newest one. It isn't any less heavy. It has a new sound, and it's enjoyable to listen to.

@HybridSpektar7 жыл бұрын
I noticed that metal bands that start out in the late 90s- early 2000 as kids in their late teens or early 20s start out very aggressive and dark for like 3 maybe 4 albums, and then as time goes on the band either breaks up and they move on to other things or if they keep it going you notice a very drastic change in sound. And I think age and time has alot to do with it. These guys grow up, get married and have children. They aren't the angry kids they started out to be. When I first heard this some years ago, I didn't appreciate it because I was still in my late teens. But in my early 20s now and I kinda have a better appreciation for the change in sound. The guys grow up and make more lyrically meaningful stuff. It's not raw and angry it's almost mellow. I like it.

@drummersetsfire10 жыл бұрын
it's taken me a few listens.. my favorite DH record has been hidden hands of a sadist nation for a long long time. (loved undoing ruin, deliver us).. then around eternal return, john henry's vocals started shifting toward more melodic parts, but only slightly. here, there are parts where he sounds like chester bennington - not sure how i feel about this.
@blakemccoy884210 жыл бұрын
He looks like him too... I've always been a huge fan, and I think the Human Romance was an overall amazing album, but I'm iffy on this album. This is one of my least favorite songs on there, and I'm not digging the clean vocals at all, especially since they're in all but ONE song. I want my old DH back....
@NicolasAlexanderOtto10 жыл бұрын
Blake McCoy Guess they just have to pay bills as well. I can't blame them. Still, sad. Hope the new record will have some kickass scream parts as well.
@iStarwinkle10 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Alexander Otto I don't necessarily think they wrote like this to "pay the bills". There's an interview with John Henry talking about the album. You guys should check it out. It's a lot different than old DH, but I love it all the same. The guitars riff so hard and the vocals are fitting
@NicolasAlexanderOtto10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm feeling ya. It's not bad by any means an I am stoked for the new album none the less, just hope they didn't pull a 180° completely an retained some of the aggression that defined them back in the day. You got a link for the interview maybe?
@alvatrous10 жыл бұрын
its just the transition these metal bands make over the years. look at atr in flames and the atrocious last album of bmfv. but just because its softer doesn't mean its shit. it actually fills a nice void in the rock spectrum that many bands don't start out at with a few exceptions being rise against or sum 41 (chuck ablum era)

Right? What the fuck is this ridiculous bullshit!!?? From "Hidden Hands" and "Undoing Ruin" (best album) to this shit; I don't see how any artist(s) could possibly match this degree of degradation. I know Atreyu caved and went for the Pop route, but I never would've foreseen this from DH. My favorite, and most artistically talented band in every facet of the genre, and they plummet, joining as one of the ever-increasing pathetic sellouts. Goddamn travesty.
