After the housing crash back in '08, I worked cleaning out houses that had been foreclosed on and abandoned. People left everything. The closets were still full of clothes, family pictures and college diplomas were still on the walls, these were houses that had been empty for a year but looked like people left a few minutes before. And we're not talking cheap houses either, these were typically in rich neighborhoods. That was an interesting job.

I disagree, leaving drawer's open is a tell tale sign that people left and aren't coming back; who opens a drawer and then leaves it open. Especially with little children around. No they left in a hurry, and they don't look like they're coming back; so far they haven't. Black Mole is Dangerous, that could have force people out; but it didn't look that bad. Except you can't see inside walls, they might have been told to leave everything. The clothing was mostly folded in the drawers, so I'd assume that picture albums; jewelry and electronics of value might have been taken. If people were fleeing in a panic, clothing would have been thrown and dropped on the floor and things would be disorganized everywhere from rifling through stuff. My guess is either black mold force them out or they were members of a witness protection program, given a short time to leave and told to take only a day or two's worth of clothing. That would explain why there was no picture's on the walls of family also.

Memory loss, persistent headaches, trouble breathing, and just general pain in your body. So not fatal but definitely not fun

I know of this home. I think it belongs to the family of a very popular and prestigious family of doctors and surgeon's. I'm pretty sure this is like a second home (maybe vacation spot?) and both husband and wife passed away and the family never came back to it. Someone in his family (uncle, brother etc) wrote books on surgery. So no it's not fleeing,or murder,or prison... It's that they passed away and as you can see it's a handful to manage that property. This may have been a wealthy family's home at one time or possibly a summer vacation home more than likely. It looked to me that lastly it was a vacation rental. Notice there weren't any real personal effects left. No pictures of family or mementos. Other than the clothes that could have been left by the last caretakers of the property. That's why the rooms had a hotel kinda vibe to them. Everything you might need for a nice rental, games, books, dishes, bunk beds, that crib and fully furnished rooms without any real personal items left about. It's a shame it wasn't kept up. As long as the roof is maintained on these old houses they hold up pretty good. Once they start leaking it's toast. I was curious what the bathrooms looked like. Great find.

@Kernica1 , true maybe not by today's standards the way homes are built but the age of that home with all the woodwork , built in wine rack in the "man cave" or smoking room wasn't typical in an average home of that age. I was wondering the same too about them not doing a little research on the place to give us a little history would've been nice.

chief tp It comes from a variety of sources including plants, roads, wind, clothes dryers, electronics, attics, basements, air conditioning and heating ducts and vents, pets, pollen, insects, carpeting, knick knacks. If you live in the south, coastal states, desert, or Southwest, you have more than your fair share of dust due to excess pollen, windy, and dry conditions. But not matter where you live, dust will be a problem and it needs to be addressed.

If it has been 10 - 15 years that the house has been abandoned, it could have been due to the recession of 2008 (Great Recession). A lot of people owed more on their house than the value of the house itself and just walked away from their property. This could have been a second home / vacation property and the homeowners were overextended. Ironically, it was the collapse of the housing market that started that disaster.

Facts: The Fridge - It is made by GE aka: General Electric The Beer - Blue Moon Belgian White (branded as Belgian Moon in Canada) is a Belgian-style witbier brewed by MillerCoors under the name the Blue Moon Brewing Co. It was launched in 1995, and was originally brewed in Golden, Colorado. It is brewed at Molson Brewery in Quebec Canada. In 2012 Blue Moon has come under fire from the Brewers Association for not stating on the bottle that the beer is made by MillerCoors. The Brewers Association says that this omission allows the Blue Moon Brewing Company to masquerade as an independent craft brewer. Independent craft brewers, such as Greg Koch, CEO of Stone Brewing Co., agree that the multinational conglomerate brewers' use of bottle imagery similar to independent craft beers misleads consumers. In May 2015, a California man filed suit against MillerCoors for the "Craft Beer" labeling. Coors eventually settled out of court with The Confederation of Belgian Breweries (CBB), agreeing to change the labeling to "Belgian-style Wheat Ale". The Mold - It is black. Black mold is a type of fungus that thrives in damp areas and tends to grow on natural materials. Long-term exposure to black mold may cause symptoms in some people, particularly those with respiratory conditions, such as asthma. Someone most likely left a door or window open or there is a hole somewhere in the property that leads to the outside. 06:08 - The number "#2600" is the same number as 2600 hertz, the audio tone used in phreaking to gain control of telephone networks. Coincidentally it is posted on top of a touch button land line phone and may have been left there recently is a subtle wink to gain a giggle from any geeks who may stumble upon this place after it was put there. 06:19 - David Yuengling establishes Eagle Brewery, the company that went on to produce Yuengling Traditional, in 1829. Originally located on Center Street, Pottsville PA, it is no longer there. However at 420 Mahantongo St, Pottsville, PA 17901, USA, there exists D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. - Brewery, Museum and Gift Shop. In 1987 Dick Yuengling brings back "Yuengling Traditional", the company's now-flagship product, as seen in this abandoned house. 06:57 - Boombox was created by Lloyds, a division of Dynascan Corp. The version here is the Lloyds Electronics Boombox Model V433. Dynascan produced the first ever CB radio. In 1993 Dynascan was officially changed to "Cobra Electronics". This boombox was made before 1994. 08:04 - The drape design in this room is known as "Country Plaid" in the drape world. 08:37 - The left most drink on the table is Metaxa 5 Star. It is a Brandy originally produced in Greece. It has a 38% alcohol content and for every ten grams, it contains 0.8 grams of carbs, 0.8 grams of sugar, 0.0 grams of everything else and is lethal if you drink too much of it. 09:28 - This art has white mold on it. White mold shouldn't be confused with efflorescence. Efflorescence, a crystalline growth, has a white, almost fluffy appearance and often is mistaken for white mold. It typically grows on brick, concrete and stucco and is caused by salt deposits. Efflorescence does not pose the same health threats as mold. Yet, many molds appear white regardless of age because their spores are not pigmented. The lack of spore pigmentation is caused by the type of material it's growing on. 09:56 - Gordon's London Dry Gin.

*Good point. That kitchen is out of the 80's I would say, the push button phone is an oldie **6:09**. Undoubtedly there were some people there since (Blue Moon beer wasn't around then) but the roof would have to had time to significantly fail and let substantial water in to create holes in the floor which probably would not have happened if the place was just abandoned in 2008.*

People in the comments said other people have explored this house and they set things up to make it seem like the family left in a hurry. He said he saw stuff from 2008 I wouldn’t be surprised if people were living in it before the mold took over and or people were bringing things in to make it seem like people left recently

I always feel sad to see these beautiful houses left like this. No one came to check on these people where they gone. I'm sure they had some friends and reletiives. Family can't just disappered like this incase any horrible thing happened to them but still family come to see the house. That's what I think. Good work. 👍

My theory: the doctor who owned this summer house (another explanation for the scrubs) and his family came up for the beginning of the summer season in 2008, only to find that a roof failure/broken upstairs window during the winter caused inside flooding and floor/ceiling damage. They stuck around long enough to be told by the local general contractor that the damage was unrecoverable, and, oh yeah--the black mold is a really nasty Aspergillus, you need to leave now, don't take anything in the house with you, it's all contaminated. So, they go home, try to figure out how to raze and rebuild, and boom--the economy crashes. Forget the summer house, it's a write-off, it's unlivable, we have to focus on how to keep our primary house and stay afloat....and so the beach house sits, forgotten. BTW: the other commenters were right about the mold. I'd make an appointment with your doctor, like now.

That could be....but if the house was empty when a storm came along, it wouldn't take much of a leak in the roof to cause that much damage. All it needs is some rain and melting snow, and a few months of neglect.

Troy Pattillo : yes Troy your correct - a lot of this is STAGED - no spider webs or dust . Dining tables seems to be always set . Bed’s made and books opened and left on bed . These explorers try to make these places interesting - having viewers mean money . They usually say they do not take items - leave it as they find it - is their motto . I do not agree with that - I think most do load up on stuff - they can’t reveal that for they would be arrested .

At the 5:24 mark...you can see a name and address inside of the book that is lying on the bed. I looked up the name and address and it is for a doctor who passed away in 2013. If the owner of the book is the person who owned this house then it is odd that it sits abandoned as he had a large family. He was 91 when he passed and left 5 adult children, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren...many who still live in the same state as he did.... It is so sad to see the remnants of someone's life...simply left to rot...with no-one caring enough to close the house properly or to even relish the belongings of a life well lived... Unlike most Third-world countries where the elderly have great value...in our first-world American society the elderly are looked at as a nuisance by so many people...as if they have no knowledge or value in the lives of their family or community...which is simply untrue...So sad...

A life well lived...Um. Sure! Or maybe just a long life. Maybe the guy was an insufferable asshole? Not every relative is a treasure. Perhaps the home and everything in it reminded them of bad memories so they left it to the mold. Did you ever have a co-worker you couldn't stand and think "wow, I'm glad I only have to tolerate this jerk at work"..Well, that person has a family and they probably don't like he/she either. Just something to think on.

That house was someone's inheritance that became an B&B. The phones in each room that look like hotel phones plus the one in the kitchen with the sticky note #2600 was likely to dial the caretaker. The library with the books, old tv, and board game would have been a common area. You can see the mark on the table that is a square shape that tells you something was there. Most likely the board game box before it was staged for dramatic effect. The book left on the end of the bed had 2 stamped pages with the name of an MD that included an address. The furniture and decor in most of the bedrooms is from the 60's to the 80's probably the time when someone lived in the home. The cheaper furniture like in the kitchen is most likely from when it was passed on to whomever inherited the home. Since it is a costal property, the most likely scenario is there was a sole owner who turned the home into a B&B after they inherited the property. Then ten or twenty years later it was aboanded after a storm that caused water damage. If was insuranced they probably didn't return because of the mold and they had money from the settlement. When a hurricane hits even near a home that maybe doesn't cause structural damage but, does cause water damage by the time everything is settled a lot of the properties are left like that all over the coast. If they had to evacuate it would've looked pretty much exactly like that. You load the car and go and most people grab family photos, clothes, and whatever else they can carry with them.

@Keys8795 жыл бұрын
Black Mold is a generic term for a number of mold species, each with a dark green or blackish color to them. The most common being a species named Stachybotrys chartarum. They grow prolifically and especially in abandoned homes in humid regions. Though many homes being actively occupied can have the mold. Basements, garages, and anywhere water can seep into woods. It is pretty harmful to you when exposed long-term. If, when you come home from being out and about and you notice your nose starts to stuff, you cough a lot, maybe get headaches sometimes at home without explanation, or maybe your eyes itch and you feel off or subtly ill frequently. It could be mold in your home.
