Dark Horse Workshop

Күн бұрын

I wanted to make something I know anyone could make, and make well. That looked cool, was kind of medieval, but above all, would actually make people take the leap instead of being afraid to fail.
I think this is a great bag, purse, pouch pattern even if you're an established creator. The pattern is easily scale-able and a good base for different closures etc. With no need for hand stitching, machine stitching, or even riveting, I think it's a winner.
Check below for my social media links like my Patreon and Etsy, as well as my TeeSpring Store where I'm using my artwork to make some shirts. Also you'll find links to all the tools and supplies I'm using.

The only tool you really need for this design is a sharp knife. He also used a couple of punches and a stretcher, but you could pretty easily improvise something else for those.

E Co. have you got a box cutter? A good box cutter, single blade ones not the ones that have an extendable blade that snaps off. Maybe a Scalpel? It’s got to be sharp, and sturdy! My partner started doing leatherwork as a hobby 35 years ago, and he's taught me some things. You don't need much to stat out, I highly doubt the Natives had all the tools we have, but they did great leather items they used every day!

What’s wild is that I bought a belt pouch that was assembled like this at a renaissance fair and it’s outlasted all my stitched belt pouches I’ve had. It’s such a simple design but it holds together surprisingly well

Thank you this very doable with a few dollar store tool. Metal straw punch. Break blade exacto. Small chisel, or sharpened spatula. People can find the drive for progress and look at what they already have. Enthusiasm and a belief in your own creativity, will take you far. Good luck fellow earthlings.

Great tutorial! Would love to see a video on finishing edges for different leathers I'm a beginner and I like chrome tan and oil tanned leather better just because it's look and flexiblity but I get discouraged working and projects and my edges don't look well compared to how well veg tan burnishes. I find it hard to get a clean edge with little to no "fuzz".
