Furthermore the fact that they have to prey on the vulnerable to gain a following is despicable, and a sign of what she called a "bad religion," or a cult.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my Lit professor, who also teaches Hebrew scripture. Assuming for the sake of argument that the Christian heaven exists, and is exactly as the tenets of Christianity describe it, there are going to be a lot of disappointed Christians. The popular conception of the afterlife is that it's a place of happiness, where you can do all the activities you enjoyed in life without consequence. However, think about that for a second. You won't be able to have sex, because you're dead, and there's no need for sexual reproduction. You won't be able to eat your favorite foods, because you're dead, and have no metabolism. You won't be able to meet long lost loved ones, because what guarantee do you have that they ended up in the same place? If you left friends and family behind on Earth, you won't be allowed to cry for them, because God wipes away your tears and forces you not to mourn. For all you know, you could end up the equivalent of a brain in a jar once you get to heaven, because you no longer need a body to stay alive. You won't be able to do the activities you enjoyed in life, because if you're in heaven, you're only there to fulfill your one desire, which is to be with God forever. Although I'm non-religious and my professor is a theologian, we ended up agreeing. People base their concept of heaven on their experiences in life, because that's the only frame of reference they have. Yet the things in life that we find most fulfilling all stem from the fact that we will eventually die and therefore have to make the most of our time here. Take that away and all you're left with is doing the same thing for eternity, for no reason at all. And really, do you want to spend an eternity doing nothing but kissing the ass of a petty genocidal tyrant like the Biblegod?

+FrozenWolf150 Nice point you made! And, I loved the "brain in a jar," analogy:) That pretty much sums it up. I have to think there is more, beyond this existence, however...not in a religious sense, by any means. More along the lines of reincarnation. The word "resurrection," is anagram for "intercourser." Firstly, the word "intercourse" is strange wording for the sexual act, when one really thinks about it. Breaking the word down...Inter means to place a dead body in a grave or tomb....Inter(-) means between; among; in the midst of....and Courser means one who courses through a continuous passage or progress through time, or a succession of stages, like in the course of a battle, in the course of a year, or perhaps in the course of a certain time allotment or eternity. Maybe one's placement is dependent on their previous knowledge and deeds??

+FrozenWolf150 It is not that there aren't philosophical counter arguments to the lack of body or metabolism in heaven - after all, God could just make your soul experience the happiness without needing the body. From reading these comments religious people are okay with not asking questions.. The 2 variables of this video were one in the same, the situation of the house is the same as religion but people are saying that doesn't count because he was trying to get her to spend her money but when you think about it when people just accept religion without really knowing what it is they are sacrificing their ability to think on their own, they live in fear & division for the short time here on earth.. It's the same thing. Partaking in the unknown with hope or faith that it's everything ppl make it out to be

Daletia It's actually not the same both people in the video are advertising places of residents (locations) while real religion (Christianity at least) advertises God, a relationship with God, and everything that comes with him which just so happens to include heaven. The video actually makes a point worth noting, I have seen some conversations between atheist and Christians, and quite a few of them are lacking personal testimonies (which is something so important that people will believe it over physical evidence or lack thereof) one of the reasons Jesus was so saught after by people was because people talked about him and what he did.

I enjoy watching your videos. As a Christian, I do believe these things, but seeing the outside perspective gives me reason to believe and understand why people don’t believe what I do. It’s ludicrous and I know it, and some points your videos have made show direct contradictions to what I’ve heard in my church (The Greater Insult in particular), and that helps me to logically inspect my religion. While I wouldn’t consider myself atheist, as I do believe that God is real out there, there’s no physical evidence to support the claim besides the existence of the universe. It’s all based on faith. Both theists and atheists believe in something, and how they view the world doesn’t have to be wrong. I agree with you on your terms of organized religion, though. It’s become corporate and it’s always been about control, even in classical times. I keep my beliefs to myself usually nowadays because of the rifts I see. I most likely won’t ever leave the theist realm unless it is definitively proven a God could not exist by any terms. That said, your videos give me a lot to think about, and not many other channels can say the same.

Analogies are one the best ways to look at your beliefs from an outside point of view, thats why I love darkmatter so much. Like this one "I most likely will never stop believing the flying spaghetti monster exists unless it is definitely proven that the flying spaghetti monster could not exist by any terms." Sorry I'm not saying that to be mean but just to give you another way of looking at it. Also you seem like a cool dude and I wish more theists were like you
@adelfaidah32246 жыл бұрын
@Aleara that is all maybe's, and one of those maybe is that a god exists, now what strikes me as odd is the fact that most religions mentions a god that created us and not a flying spaghetti monster or a simpler life form, or natural processes. You might say well its the easiest thing to come up with, "an all mighty being created us" but the only reason you assume its so easy to come up with is because of the fact it existed for thousands of years. Its 3 a.m I'm drunk and i don't know what the hell I'm saying but maybe logical thinking is not what will prove a god exists or not, after all as science continues to advance the world keeps getting weirder and weirder and its not really logical anymore whatever "logical" means (quantum physics for instance) Personally i find it fascinating how some religions can not be "debunked" (true they always interpret it different ways) but if a book can always be interpreted to not have any faults that's some hell of a book . Also, food for thought.

@annarquia_6 жыл бұрын
@@mihai10stoica we kind of need faith in something in order to study it. I mean, for years we only had faith that, for example, the earth was flat. So we studied it and found out the truth. And we only have faith that other universes and realities exist, nothing to prove them; we only have faith when we're facing a rough time... are you getting it? The only bridge that holds up the conception of God is faith, they only rely on faith, and that's everything. No proof, only faith. And there's nothing bad about it unless it blinds you, like total faith in god, got it? I dont know if I explained it well but i tried, my English vocabulary is still limited

I think most of you do not realize that the motivation for christians to live a good life and help others is not hell. If you study the old vs the new testament you will see how what jesus says and thinks is so different than what is written before. We are not living a life of fear, we are not making decisions based on ohh, I would do this, but then I'd go to hell so nahh. For example, you see a toddler on the street alone, why don't you murder her? Are you just afraid of prison? Or are you just a better person than that? Our motivation for good is simply to do good, and nothing more. God is not a policemen we fear, but a parent we love. We have a relationship with him, which is loving and trusting and we find him within ourselves. And in the end, if he doesn't exist, then what? We lived a life full of good, love, respect, happiness, and care. It is not about the afterlife, or not just about that. I hope you understood it, my english is a work in progress.

@@eperke2933 If all christians thought and acted as you describe, they'd probably be atheists by now, haha. But when I go to churches and see old ladies crawling around mumbling 'prayers', and kissing pictures, and teaching their grandsons to do the same, I can't help but think they're a bit brainwashed. I don't care if god actually exists or not, and I don't care if you're good or bad. What I'm asking is why do you choose to believe in such things, when a simple honest look around you would indicate they don't exist. And if it's the love, respect, happiness and care you mention, you can have that without god, and they'd be even more genuine.

Another example of the effect of doublethink. Take for instance the concept that black and white are opposites, and when you mix them you get various shades of grey. So black and white being opposite, when forced together become grey. No one needs to be convinced that this is true. But almost no one can be convinced of another truth operating on the exact same principal. Government and freedom are opposites. When you force them together you get various degrees of slavery. To be governed is to be controlled and manipulated, which is what you do with slaves. To exist in a state of total freedom, there can be no such mechanism of control. It's such a simple concept a 12year old can understand it, while most adults simply cannot, and opt for a varying degree of slavery over total freedom!

I think you already know the answer to that, but if not then consider this famous saying. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." What is the one and only thing power can do? Whether you agree with her politics or not Ayn Rand had the right idea about heaven: “The restriction they seek to escape is the law of identity. The freedom they seek is freedom from the fact that an A will remain an A, no matter what their tears or tantrums-that a river will not bring them milk, no matter what their hunger-that water will not run uphill, no matter what comforts they could gain if it did, and if they want to lift it to the roof of a skyscraper, they must do it by a process of thought and labor, in which the nature of an inch of pipe line counts, but their feelings do not-that their feelings are impotent to alter the course of a single speck of dust in space or the nature of any action they have committed. Heaven is where every wish is reality, and it sounds horrible.

I am trying here to prevent anyone from saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him [Jesus Christ]: 'I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God.' That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic-on a level with a man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that option open to us. He did not intend to.” So, who did Jesus claim to be? Who does the Bible say He is? First, let's look at Jesus’ words in John 10:30, “I and the Father are one.” At first glance, this might not seem to be a claim to be God. However, look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement, “‘We are not stoning you for any of these,’ replied the Jews, ‘but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God’” (John 10:33). The Jews understood Jesus’ statement as a claim to be God. In the following verses, Jesus never corrects the Jews by saying, “I did not claim to be God.” That indicates Jesus was truly saying He was God by declaring, “I and the Father are one” (John 10:30). John 8:58 is another example: “‘I tell you the truth,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’” Again, in response, the Jews took up stones in an attempt to stone Jesus (John 8:59). Jesus’ announcing His identity as “I am” is a direct application of the Old Testament name for God (Exodus 3:14). Why would the Jews again want to stone Jesus if He had not said something they believed to be blasphemous, namely, a claim to be God? John 1:1 says “the Word was God.” John 1:14 says “the Word became flesh.” This clearly indicates that Jesus is God in the flesh. Thomas the disciple declared to Jesus, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him. The apostle Paul describes Him as, “…our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). The apostle Peter says the same, “…our God and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:1). God the Father is witness of Jesus’ full identity as well, “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’” Old Testament prophecies of Christ announce His deity, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). So, as C.S. Lewis argued, believing Jesus to be only a good teacher is not an option. Jesus clearly and undeniably claimed to be God. If He is not God, then He is a liar, and therefore not a prophet, good teacher, or godly man. In attempts to explain away the words of Jesus, modern “scholars” claim the “true historical Jesus” did not say many of the things the Bible attributes to Him. Who are we to argue with God’s Word concerning what Jesus did or did not say? How can a “scholar” two thousand years removed from Jesus have better insight into what Jesus did or did not say than those who lived with, served with, and were taught by Jesus Himself (John 14:26)? Why is the question over Jesus’ true identity so important? Why does it matter whether or not Jesus is God? The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the whole world (1 John 2:2). Only God could pay such an infinite penalty (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus’ deity is why He is the only way of salvation. Jesus’ deity is why He proclaimed, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). God bless us all...

@inboundmoose23498 жыл бұрын
Not intended to be mean. It's a nice sounding message - but if you have "faith" that your husband/wife is being faithful towards you, is that *actually* evidence? Or is it just a blind trust with no real sound basis? Hmm. It's a verse worth re-thinking.
@Johanna0407138 жыл бұрын
inboundmoose The object of faith is the truth; the truth is not yet seen (with natural senses) in this fallen world. The fallen world and fallen humanity is filled with lie and deception (like unfaithfulness in marriage), but the truth is what a Christian aims for and sees in spirit. I "watch" the truth every day with my spiritual eyes, but what I see can't be researched scientifically, empirically. One day it will be all that exists, though, thank God.
@inboundmoose23498 жыл бұрын
Johanna040713 That's the biggest load of word salad I've ever read. "The object of faith is the truth" Why? That makes no sense at all. So if I have faith that pixies exist, they are real? That's literally your logic right here. "The fallen world and fallen humanity is filled with lie and deception" Uh, okay. Whatever that means. "I "watch" the truth every day with my spiritual eyes" Spiritual eyes huh? What does that even mean? This is the stuff religious people say that just make them sound crazy, not rational or pious in any form. "but what I see can't be researched scientifically" See that's the problem. ANYTHING that occurs and can be known can be researched - "scientific inquiry" is not some hocus pocus process that would somehow ignore the obvious, nor is it different than perceiving what we usually do through our senses. It's just taking what's in front of us and putting it to scrutiny. If God, angels and demons were there in front of us just like the trees and the wind, science would have discovered them ages ago. For example - nobody debates the existence of lions. Even if you haven't seen one yourself, you know they exist. It's common knowledge. We have pictures, videos, it's common knowledge to know that they are hunters. Lions are fascinating creatures. Everybody's aware of them. Now what about demons? Or faith healing? Miracles for that matter. Religious people say they happen but you have to "believe." But that's the problem - nobody ever asks "hey did you see that demon damage the Eiffel tower last week?" No, because such a thing never happens and demons never seem to show up where religious people say they do. Every reason that people used to say was caused by demon possession has been shown by science to be either epilepsy or other known phenomena; NOT the result of some supernatural hocus pocus. And faith healing... please. If faith healing were even real, people would not flock to hospitals. We would be flocking to the churches because instant miracle healing is by far more appealing than living in a hospital to recover from any myriad diseases that your god allows to ravage mankind unhindered.
@dj-up4nc8 жыл бұрын
If you go by the Christian faith, I can disprove it. They say, in the bible, god is supernatural, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. I'll try to keep this as short as I can. Supernatural means immaterial, the problem with this, is that supernatural things are not testable or observable. They are not scientifically provable. We don't know that immaterial things exist, but we know that material things do, so when proposing a cause for something, even if we don't know what that it, it is only logical to assume that it is material, which is not supernatural. Since your god is immaterial, the same explanation can be used to prove the existence of other gods, so why specifically choose the religion you believe in, when the same explanation to prove god exists can be used for any religion? The problem with omniscience is caused by free will. If god knows everything, he knows what we are going to do, he knows what we want, so why pray, if he knows what we are going to do, then free will can't exist. Free will is used to define the power of evil. Then, omniscience itself is paradoxical. Let's suppose that you are an all-knowing god, you might think you know everything, but if there is anything you don't know, then you aren't aware that you don't know it, meaning that you don't know if you know everything, so that means, there is something you don't know. If god knew Adam and Eve were going to eat from the tree of knowledge even if he didn't want them to, then why keep it where they can reach it, why even make it exist? They recognized their mistake after that, but they didn't know before that, god made them so they make mistakes and don't know that they're not supposed to do it, so that makes it his own fault, so why did he punish them? Omnipotence is also not possible, as can simply be put like this, could god create a stone even he couldn't lift? If he could, then he can't lift it, not omnipotent, if he can't, then therefore that also isn't omnipotence. Omnibenevolence is not possible, if he is omnipotent, then is capable of everything, but if he is omnibenevolent, he shouldn't be able to do evil, so that disproves omnibenevolence and omnipotence by itself, but let's look at a few examples, in the bible. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. (Isaiah 45:7) If god is responsible for everything, like your faith says, then he is responsible for evil, this disproving omnibenevolence again. What about when god inflicts plague on Egypt? Burns two cities, even the children, who were innocent? Now, some may argue that all god does it good, thus making morality defined by god. Does that make genocide and enslavement good and morally justifiable now? Should we stone kids who don't listen to their parents as stated in Deuteronomy 21: 18-12? Kill people for working on Sunday as said in Exodus 31: 15? Now don't give me the Old Testament excuse. You follow the 10 commandments? That was from the old testament, nice cherry picking to suit facts. Well that took a while.

Couch Potato On "why _Christian_ God?", see videos of Dr Willam Lane Craig on this subject (can be found here in KZbin). On God's ominiscience, you're incorrect; God being omniscient doesn't exclude man's free will. On God's omnibenevolence, that's not biblical. Christian lives in the new covenant where punishments of the torah are still morally correct, but the execution of those just punishments are postponed and will be executed in the judgement day by Jesus. But there will be no judgement and punishment for sins for us, who have received in faith Jesus as the atonement for our sins. This is the time of grace - don't waste it!

This a good example of conformity. If it was only a small minority of people who believed in god, no one would accept any such absurd notion. But, when the vast majority of people believe in god, others begin to consider it as a possibility. After all, there must be some reason so many people believe this. A majority this large couldn't possibly be wrong.

This video explain everything ten years ago in my life. I asked the same question to my dad's former question. He asked the members give their money to god. In order for him to build a house in heaven. I told him- stop lying. The people's hardworking money would go to the bills, himself, the government and oversea.

Didn't you mean to title it "Religion vs REALTY"?
@bingola459 жыл бұрын
+alapon77 That's actually very funny, if you are aware that, in the US, a residential property broker is called a REALTOR, and therefore his stock-in-trade goes under the collective title of REALTY.
@bohoboy99 жыл бұрын
+bingola45 Actually; and this is a bit nit-picky, but I thinks lends itself even more to the analogy; someone facilitating the purchase/sale of any real estate is a 'real estate broker' or 'real estate agent'. A Realtor is neccessarily a member of the NAR; a private organization essentially presenting itself as the only true method to engage in realty, especially suggesting that engagement cannot be done without one of their representatives, just as many religions do with reality.

DEWS VMMMCXV Not a 'deduction' at all. There is no way to deduce the meaning of the word in question from the information given. A knowledge of US dialectic English is required.
@VMMMCXV9 жыл бұрын
bingola45 I think you are confusing "phrase" with "word". There was no "word" that was deduced as you claim. In fact the statement: _Religion vs Realty_, which I was referring to is indeed a play on words that any person with a acceptable grasp of the English language should be able to recognize. The term to "deduce", as per the Merriam-Webster English Dictionary, means: to infer from a general principle. You inferred the origin of why the original statement could be considered humorous, from the general principle of the anatomy of puns and how they are used. You wrote in words, and explained the process and explanation by which you reached your conclusion on the pun's analysis. You realized that the word _realty_, referring to the business of property, is similar in composition to the word _reality_, which is used in the video title. As both words are relevant to the video material, the pun made to play on the word "reality" with the word "realty" is indeed witty. This is a logical *deduction* of the pun's interpretation. However, to explain this connection is to imply the incompetence of human deduction. It is obvious to any sane person that "realty" is a play on the word "reality". And since it is relevant to the video, the connection is coherent and viewers consider it humorous. Normal people are able to see the physical similarities and understand the connections between the word "reality" and "realty" and the video to realize and appreciate the wittiness of the pun by themselves. Please educate yourself in the English language, not limiting your knowledge to a single "dialect".

Religion isn't for everybody. If we can all love and respect one another this world will be in a better place. There are so many other things as a human race we need to worry about ... Not this. Spread love for love is the truest of them all. Every religion all have the same golden rule it's when we start breaking things down is when things gets complicated and honestly pointless. Treat others the way you like to be treated. It's simple guys.

DippedNGlory The problem with that is, humans are not wired to think or behave that way, all you have to do is look at children, they are generally selfish, they whine, and complain and often times become violent when they don't get what they want, they are the template for all of humanity, humans have to learn to be kind, selfless, empathetic, loving and caring we don't start off that way, and even when we do learn those traits we still tend towards selfish desires. I remember watching an experiment being done in which children were tested in there tendacey to cheat in a game by having one group play the game after being told that there was an invisible person in the room watching them, while the other group was told no one was watching them. Every single one of them in the group that was told no one was watching them cheated. People in countries run bt authoritarian dictatorships have the belief that their government is always watching them drilled into their heads to keep them from acting out of line, and for the most part it works, human beings need the knowledge that someone is above them watching them to act properly, it is why the ancient civilizations, who didn't want to believe in the true God, made false gods, its why people push the narrative that the government is always watching, it is why parents lie to their children about Santa Claus.
