To be honest i wouldn't recommend you to start again it would take few month to get to an competitive level however there are only few active player's.

There’s just way too many maps now. I remember when X-8 were the big maps and you would find lots of players up there. Now they’re empty and players scattered everywhere. No more big clan gatherings like there used to be. Just bots left and right. I too recently started playing again but seems to be pretty boring now.

Indeed the game become so boring due to bots there are almost no real players on the map and as you said there are way to many maps

On the plus side, getting good, and ranking up is like 10x easier now. Spending an hour in 5-3 shooting all the pallabots, you have climbed 2 ranks already. And if you don`t see any real players, then you must be on a really dead server. My server still has a ton of active players, and you can just kill the bots out of your way.
