War is one of the horsemen of the apocalypse, dedicated to the balance and the Charred Council, but he wasn’t always so loyal.
This is a plot recap of the Darksiders prequel comic.

We Are Venom Your right. I think fury wraps her whip around the sword pulling it out of death. As this is happening Death tells war “wisdom is a great gift.” And uses his shythe to cut off wars arm. He did it for brotherly love. He understood why he was defiant. They had to kill their entire race after all. So he cut off wars arm because this punishment would pale in comparison with what the council would have done to him. Death is always looking out for his brothers (including his sister)

Everyone keeps saying Death is obviously the strongest Horsemen because he cut off War's arm. As if they forget that War literally deflected Strife's bullets, was about to possibly kill Fury, before Death intervened with is "almost" invulnerable body, and was only able to so easily cut of War's arm because fury used her whip to ensnare him while his sword was momentarily stuck on Death. Until we see a one on one fight between them, it's hard to say who is truly stronger, but it seems to be leaning more towards War considering the full context, as well as additional context given by War and Strife in the mobile game (which is canonical), in which War reminds Strife it took all three siblings to stop his last tantrum, and that Strife should stop pushing him, to which Strife reluctantly agrees.

Death is the leader of the 4 horsemen and the most powerful, he is the real deal, Samael, Lilith and any other creature confirm it, war can be a very tough guy with strife and fury, but the Grim Reaper is a different matter .

Lore Logs Fury used her whip to hold Wars other arm so he can’t do anything while his other arm holds the sword in Death and then Death does the deed

Death never beat War. Fury and Death cooperated to do so. It was never a 1 vs 1 fight, 3 vs 1

But... the Nephelim are not "the creator's first warriors", they were created by Lillith, using "essence" of both angels and demons, so that sentence was wrong in more than one way, first, they were not the first warrior race to come into existance, Angels, Demons, and many Old Ones already existed, secondly, they were not made by the Creator, they were made by the Demon Lillith.

I've been asking where the source for that is since the first complaint I got on it, but no one ever replies. It's in the novel you say? I have it, but never got around to reading the whole thing. Mind telling me where in the novel it is?

It's never explained. They just did. The Charred Council aren't the nicest group of beings around, so they may have done it to vent their frustration over War's "betrayal". But that's just me speculating.

Wait I just thought of reason. The council wanted War the play the role of executioner, but they needed a reason to accuse him of something so they let War continue doing what he is doing on earth, but they knew that the realms of Darksiders wouldn't approve of it. So they needed to make it that they didn't know about what was happening on earth, but they couldn't have the female watcher go around telling everyone that the council did nothing while War was on earth. So they killed her.

ItsReever There's some slight inconsistencies that could be reconned away or simply done away with altogether. I'm interested in seeing what they'll do.

I'd like to see them have more of a kinship, ya know? You get the feeling at the end of DS1 when Death, Strife, and Fury are coming down that War was feeling like..."Yeah...here comes the cavalry. Everyone is screwed now.". This story makes it seem like War hates them.

ItsReever Well, they're still brothers and their infighting happened millenia before the events of DS1. Plus, in DS2, Death is all about looking out for his brethren. So there's still a chance that we may get the kinship they hinted at.

Yeah I know. It's just a bit jarring is all. If you ignore this comic and just focus on the games, then it's all good. lol.

ItsReever Oh, I know, haha. It's tempting to write it off, but it's not my M.O. to ignore something that hasn't been explicitly stated as not-canon. So, until then, I'll treat it as Canon and will do my best to make sense of it.
