I Made an Orphan of Kos Diorama | Bloodborne

The BIG SCREAMER of The Hunter's Nightmare, the Baldy Orphan of Kos. And I designed a little rocky beachy diorama for him to stand on as he looks down on the fishing hamlet snail folk!

Thinking on it, "drunkenly chaotic" is a good way to describe Orphan's moveset. He'll run at you, he'll stop, he'll scream, he'll smash the ground - there's no way to know what's coming. I find Orphan much more unpredictable.

Ah my favourite but also the toughest boss in the series imo. He took me HOURS to beat on my first run, but only made him all the more satisfying. I love this piece! Seeing you paint up Darkbeast Paarl would be cool with all them lightning affects

It's so interesting how different the experiences of every player is with Souls bosses, the Orphan annihilated me dozens of times, I felt hopeless. But Lawrence on the other hand, took only a few tries, completely opposite to you. Orphan was just so quick, his range was ridiculous and I couldn't figure his dodge windows, Lawrence just felt like a reskin of Cleric Beast, so I fought him as such and had no issue. In his second phase, I just walked around him.

Completely relate to you. Laurence holds the top spot for being the hardest boss in my playthrough of Bloodborne. Granted, I did do the DLC on NG+ but not even Kos gave me that much trouble. He hits like a truck and for some reason, I just couldn't get a proper feel for his moves like other beast bosses. Also, amazing job on this! Keep up the good work mate.

For context, Kos actually uses his PLACENTA, which is like a food pouch of sorts when he’s inside his mum. So uh, yeah. And that wire thing is actually the umbilical cord. Pretty creepy, man’s using his food to kill you. But also just pretty beautiful.

Orphan took me 32 tries my first time playing, Lawrence only took me 3, so we had the complete opposite experiences haha!

For me Laurence was the hardest boss in the game (because of his huge hitboxes). He took me 4 days to complete. He was the only souls boss that made me angry/frustrated. 2 years later I fought him a second time and laughed out loud when he died on my first try.

I actually have a story about this little fellow. About 2 years ago I first learned what the Orphan of Kos was and the souls series as a whole off of those classic hardest bosses of all time lists. Wanting to get bloodborne as soon as possible I hopped on steam………only to inevitably be disappointed. So I settled for DS3 and DS, until a year later my dad wanted to visit his home country and his family, and I had a baby cousin who he hasn’t seen in 5 years, so as a gift he would give him a ps4, but since his trip was in a couple weeks I decided to get the Goty edition of bloodborne to play. When I eventually got to orphan of kos i got him to under half health after the first few attempts which scared me because I wanted the hype people gave him to be real (like most players wanted). I went to sleep early that day due to it being a school day, and the next day after school my dad told me I only had an hour to play the game before we repack the ps4 which surprised me because he doesn’t leave until 2 days so I thought I had one more day left before needing to finish the game. I hop on the game to beat the orphan and would somehow get my ass kicked so badly for about 2 hours straight (I guess my dad was feeling nice that day) until I eventually took him out crying out of joy. I died to that SOAB more times than any other soulsborne boss (other than Malenia but that’s just because 1/3 of my deaths we me letting go of my controller and letting her kill me because that fight is bs), while I only died to Ludwig around 13 times, and Lawerence 8. It was an unforgettable experience and overall Bloodborne is my second favorite game (only because I want my favorite game to be something I didn’t rush through and have played more than once).

The Orphan was the absolute bane of my existence the first time I played bloodborne. I was stuck on him for literal days. My second playthrough I beat him in two tries, but I'll never forget that first time.

The blade is meant to be like a sharpened fish hook piercing the placenta so you were right in painting it like metal

great build! i always assumed that the metallic edge on the placenta of the orphan represented the fishing hooks that killed the original Kos, since this is not the real orphan and a manifestation in the hunter's nightmare the design has more abstract elements like that (i assume the actual orphan did not look like that weird lankey humanoid and that was purely a manifestation of it's rage)

Fantastic model and painting! Def thought Laurence was harder, gave me the most trouble of that DLC at 15-25 attempts. Actually one shot Orphan and was really confused, expecting much more. Good fun boss though, but not very difficult imo.

The metal part of the placenta is the hook that killed Kos. He’s literally using the hook that killed his mother plus the placenta wrapped around it as a weapon, pretty raw.

I agree with Lawrence being more difficult. His moves are not very well telegraphed making it hard to see what's going on. Though the Orphan is no joke either.
