Darkstalkers 3 [PS1] - play as "Lilligan"

This is a play-through using "Lilligan" in the PS1 version of Darkstalkers 3. Read on below for more information...
"Lilligan" is an alternative version of Lilith in the game. Whilst her gameplay and moves are exactly the same as regular Lilith, the difference with her is that she uses Morrigan's voices and colour palettes. This bonus character is basically the result of the story-line where apparently Lilith is in Morrigan's body or vice-versa... because you know, Lilith wants her so badly right?
She is a hidden boss character in this version of the game, and is a hidden playable character.

---- She is an alternative version character, which means she is not programmed as a separate character in the game's data.
---- Despite her having Morrigan's colour palettes, her portrait image and winning screen image is still of regular Lilith's colours.
---- Her lifebar icon in-fight represents her Lilligan colours.
---- Obviously, her winning quotes, dialogue interactions and endings are the same as regular Lilith's.
===== About PS1 Darkstalkers 3 =====
Due to the PS1's hardware limitations, a LOT of character animation frames had to be cut... if you're used to the Arcade/Saturn versions of the game, you'll definitely notice it. The game features all the characters from the Darkstalkers series. So yes, Phobos, Pyron and Donovan are in.
However despite the animation cuts, the PS1 version of Darkstalkers 3 is actually quite special, as it is basically a 'collection' of Vampire Savior, Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2 all rolled into one single game. If you unlock the Ex Options, you can get to select the system mode of the above three games... so for example if you select Vampire Hunter 2, you'll get the VH2 BGMS, endings and system (such as Pyron replacing Jedah as the game's main boss). It's good stuff and it's a good port of the arcade game.

I love how knowing the PS1 was not powerful enough to handle 100% of the technical demands of this game, they more than made up for it by squeezing in as much content as possible.

This is exactly why I prefer the PS1 version over the arcade ones. I mean the arcade ones have smoother animations, but I'm more of a content woman, so if a game offers me more content than the arcade counterpart, then guess which one is better in my book. I know that sounds stupid but don't judge me. XD

One thing about Lilligan is that this isn't the only version of her, there's a version of her in Marvel vs Capcom that's the opposite of the Darkstalkers 3 version (Morrigan's sprite with Lilith's color palette and moves)

The description says she can be fought as a boss, but how do you face her? Haven't found any info online about her being fightable as a boss. Also how do you select her without the shortcut mode? Everytime I try to while holding select I just get regular Lilith.

If you play arcade versions, they might not be included. There were several versions of arcade games swapping out characters and the PS port has the entire roster at the cost of losing frame smoothy goodness.

Liligan never made much sense to me in this game. I get that she's a part of Morrigan again but it just came off as odd.

Lilith is the "evil" or so extracted from Morrigan. Lilligan is Lilith being rejoined to Morrigan. Literally it's "the true/complete" Morrigan.

About two pages down, it talks about Belial sealing away a portion of Morrigan's power away, which gained its own will (Lillith) darkstalkers.wikia.com/wiki/Lilith

Yeah I get the lore. I just didn't make the connection that Liligan was the 'original' because the sprite looked more Morrigan. Udon's interpretation of Belial sucks. I miss the S' class version exiling Demitri etc.
